wow this sucks, still in there, but rivals says that he isn't a heavy lean any more, what do you guys make of this The Link
Any news about Hamilton not committing is bad news, as far as I'm concerned. It looks like this thing is going to drag all the way out --- which is worrisome, because if UT's lead is as big as I expected, and frankly, as big as it should be given how well Texas has recruited him --- then he should have gone ahead and committed by now. The good news is he hasn't made an official visit to Texas, yet. It would be nice if they could go ahead and get Avery Bradley in the fold, because it's my opinion that would be a positive for UT's recruitment of Hamilton. I'm just stunned it's lasted this long, in all honesty. I really will be beside myself if this doesn't go UT's way. He's the missing piece for a national championship run. There's simply no other way to put it.
Hopefully he'll be a lock after we get him in on an official visit. If stuff like facilities (Cooley/FEC), great coaching (Barnes, Wright and co.), great academics, great city in Austin, great social scene, and not to mention being a part of one of the top college b-ball programs in the country, matter to him, then hopefully he'll see all of those things at UT.
It's important to give Randa Ryan credit by name. She's the academic counselor (put in charge after the PJ Tucker fiasco). Also, Russ Springmann has simply done an outstanding job recruiting Jordan and his family. They've been on campus for an unofficial visit, but the official visit will be critical. I'm still extremely hopeful, but in terms of basketball recruiting, I've got a whole lot of emotional investment in this kid. I sure hope it works out for the Longhorns. It's simply a great fit.
I saw this thread title and immediately thought, "Someone needs to go into SLX's house and hide the prescription meds."
I didn't read the article, but I am assuming it talks about USC being one of the leaders. This makes sense considering they just had their biggest basketball recruiting weekend ever, which was centered around the UCS/OSU game. I believe the recruits all got to talk with Pete Carroll, too. Not that this isn't bad news, it is; but, as others have said, it would be a whole lot worse if he had already had his official.
Unfortunately when USC gets involved in basketball recruiting I can't help but think of O.J. Mayo, who committed to USC without ever having visited. Was Hamilton seriously considering USC before this?
Is there a date for an official visit? Just returned from being in LA for four days, whispers that I heard was that JH is not feeling the love from Texas as much. I am guessing here but has Barnes visited with the family or with JH? Is Texas recruiting the Honeycutt kid from LA and if so how hard are we going at him. This item also was mentioned. I rather have JH then Honeycutt . They are close but JH still is better then Honeycutt but not by much. The other item that was mention was that USC is pushing hard an idea to its recruits is that 5 players from the LA area can win a Championship within four years??? They have a lot of talent if they can get everyone there to stay home. These tidbits were passed along by a UCLA fan that I see when I am in town.
He didn't die did he???? C'mon, somebody has to have something over the past couple of weeks...... HOOK 'EM, Texdoc
He took a visit to USC and watched their football team lose... Then he added them to his short list which is now USC, Texas, UCONN
I've heard plenty of rumors, but no news. He's taking a visit to USC this weekend, after visiting there a couple of weekends ago. That doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. Fortunately for me, JPMorganChase Bank building had a bunch of windows blow out during the hurricane, so I have a convenient place to jump from if it comes to that.
Renardo Sidney is also visiting USC this weekend. The rumor is both will commit together this weekend ! If they do not commit then I would say that we get Hamilton but not until Nov. signing period, He may extend it to the spring. He does not appear ready to pull the trigger on us yet, the longer it goes the less I think that Hamilton will sign with us. I hope I am wrong but we have been his top school for almost 2yrs. and he has not committed to Texas. With JH we are a Final 4 team without him we are still a very strong team and depending on the seedings we would still make the Final Dance card. Where is Avery, have him call JH and talk to him.....
yeah it doesnt make me feel comfortable either, according to a usc forum, it says he will commit to a school on the 6th, with him visiting the 4th to usc, it would come to no surprise that he commits to usc, someone tie down sl xpress before he does......anything....bad
The 6th is the date I'm hearing for a commitment. I think we're going to know one way or another shortly after the USC visit. The Avery/JH connection is overexaggerated. They played on a couple of summer teams together (Global Games, not AAU). They're not best of friends or anything. They like each other and they recognize each other as outstanding talents who have talked about the possibility of playing together in college, mostly because Hamilton has considered Texas his favorite for a long time, and Bradley has had Texas as his favorite all summer. I still think we're going to get Hamilton, but I'm typing this while holding onto a railing many many stories off the ground.
On the plus side of losing JH I would get another team to hate and hope Rick schedules USC so we can beat them down. But hey....Jordan...Commit to the good guys so we can avoid all those negative feelings.
Hard to argue that USC is better than a Tier 2 program. I am hoping that Hamilton holds to his earlier statements about the benefits of leaving "home" to become a man. He saw that work for his older brother, hope he sees that as a reason to come to Texas. C'mon, Jordan, Austin is where you need to be!
Hamilton hasn't taken an official visit anywhere. He did take an unofficial visit to Texas last year with his entire family.
I guess I can comment on that: I didn't know that, but if true, I like the sound of it. HOOK 'EM, Texdoc
