Not really annoyed about it, because OU should be favored this game. But I haven't seen ONE person pick Texas...except of course my fellow brothers in here Seems like the media is expecting OU to kick our ***. Interesting.
This is great news. This is exactly what I want to happen. I wouldn't have it any other way. Because the last time we played a #1 undefeated and "unbeatable" team at a neutral site, this happened: The most awesome game ever
The point spread for several of this week's biggest games is weird if you ask me. TX-OU should not be a 7-pt pick. 6 maybe, but a field goal would be better. OU at 3.5 is more like it. On these three big matchups, I say 5 pts or less, either way. Florida - LSU Penn St - Wisconsin TX - OU If I was a betting man, I take the points on all three of those. I mean, the points I saw in the paper this morning. I thought only the Penn State game was in the ball park. OU and Florida are too heavily favored. That Fl-LSU game I'd put at 1.5 pts. I don't have the Missouri - Ok-State spread in front of me, but I think I take the points on that one, too. This is a good a year as any to bet on the Horns. Certainly take the points on this one.
Not that history means much, but beginning with the Royal era in the 14 games where both teams have been ranked in the Top 10, we are 6-7-1. Our record when Oklahoma was ranked higher than us is 3-5 (wins in 1963, 1977 and 1979). Our record when both teams were ranked in the Top 5 is 3-4-1 with those three wins again coming when Oklahoma was ranked higher than us. With the exception of the 1984 tie, not one of these game has been decided by less than 7 points or more than 21. We have not beaten Oklahoma when both teams were ranked in the Top 10 since 1983. This will be the third time Oklahoma has been ranked #1 and we were ranked in the top 10 when we played. We won in 1963 (we were ranked #2) and lost in 1978 (ranked #6). This have been three prior meetings between Brown and Stoops coached teams when both were ranked in the Top 5 (2001, 2002 and 2004). We are 0-3 and the point differences were 11, 11 and 12 respectively. In 2003 we were ranked #11 and they were #1, but the score of that game does not fit the character of the series. I doubt the media researched the past results, but the overall (and certainly the most recent) trend says that Oklahoma should be favored, will win and will cover the spread.
I was watching Cowboy Insider last night and Larry Brown predicts a Horns win. But what got me was Nate Newton aka Fat Bastard picked BlowU. Brad Sham called him out on it saying "Your son plays for UT and you are picking the Sooners?" Fat Bastard replied saying "He redshirted this year. He ain't even playing. So until then "Sooner than later"" Not only is he a fat bastard, but a lame fat bastard. It's 9:06AM and two days b4 RRR and OU still sux.
Nate's not in jail? Didn't he get busted for carrying like 500 lbs of pot on 2 different occasions? One of which was while on probation? Or am I thinking of another former gigantic Dallas offensive lineman from the Aikman/Emmitt era?
Corso was just on The Herd and picked OU. He mentioned Ou being perfect in the Red Zone and the fact that they have knocked the QB out of 4 of the last 5 games for at least 1 series. He said with the amount of running Colt does he could be in trouble. So expect Corso to be putting on that stupid little wagon hat this weekend!
After watching that video, all I can say is God Bless Vince Young. I just bought tickets to the Titans vs. the Bears and I am hoping everyday VY will be on the field to continue the Titans undefeated season and lead this team to greatness.
Went to watch that video and found myself on youtube for about 30 minutes just watching VY highlights. Damn those were the best of times. I don't think their can ever be another game to match that from a longhorn perspective. Against the greatest team of all time going for a debatable 3rd national championship in a row. 2 heisman trophy winners. Plus most national media still had the belief that Mack can't win the big one. Even if we somehow were to run the table this year it still wouldn't live up to the 2005 season.
