Before joining Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young played for a group called the Mynah Birds, which was on the Motown label. The lead singer was Rick James.

That's right, Neil Young was in a soul/funk group with Rick James, *****.

Wow, I am a bit of a Neil Young fan, but I did not know that trivia about him.

I got one for you. In the early 60's long before CSNY and before he helped Roger McGuinn form the Byrds in 1964, David Crosby did some solo work and was in a small group called the Beefeaters.

Eric Clapton is the only artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times (Yardbirds, Cream, solo artist).

Strangely enough, Neil Young (inducted into the Hall for Buffalo Springfield and as a solo artist) was not included when Crosby, Still, and Nash were inducted into the Hall.

If I remember correctly, The Mynah Birds formed in Toronto where Rick James was dodging USA military service.

Bruce Palmer was the bassist for The Mynah Birds and, later, The Buffalo Springfield.

He was a passenger in Young's hearse with Neil in LA, driving, I think, on Sunset Blvd. when Stephen Stills recognized that vehicle and followed it.

Young and Palmer had left Canada and driven to LA, where Neil hoped to find his acquaintance, Stephen Stills.

This fortuitous reunion led to The Buffalo Springfield.

Bevo, I had to look that up about Alice Cooper.

    I'm still doubting that one.

Keith Moon died in the very same apartment in London that Cass Elliott (Mama Cass from The Mamas and The Papas) died in. Incidentally, it was owned by Harry Nilsson and was right next door to an apartment owned by Sid and Marty Kroft from H.R. Puffenstuff fame.

Jimmy Hendrix almost merged with Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I'm gald he stayed solo but that would have been a cool sound.

BTW Jimmy and I share the same birth date but different year. Damn I'm cool. [IMG]

Elton John / Bernie Taupin........In 1967, Elton wrote Liberty Records telling them he could write music but not lyrics. Bernie was going to write Liberty telling them he could write lyrics, but not music and threw it in the trash. His mom fished the letter from the trash and forwarded it on to Liberty.....the rest is history
