That Obama has a real chance of overcoming any so-called bradley effect! For the first time, my mother-in-law who is an ardent Hillary supporter and one who vowed that she would never vote for Obama (she never said it in front of me but she previously told my wife that she would never vote for a black man) today expressed disgust that the McCain camp was calling Obama a 'terrorist'. And that she now would vote FOR Obama.

I was stunned for a moment! [IMG] And then it dawned on me that if this was coming from one of those 'old-world' Democrats, then sure as heck it was happening in other places also. And then everything unfolded on t..v. with mccain rebuking his supporters for calling obama an arab and a terrorist. It was all so surreal but at the same time very refreshing.

This is a day and a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life and I consider indeed, historic. [IMG] [IMG]

My wife who was a HRC supporter changed her mind and will vote for Obama, then her entire family who have voted red for 50 years are voting for Obama.
    Yes we can.

Have the same situation with my 86 year old mother. It was not Obama's race so much for her (I have been in an interractial relationship since Carter was president), but her abject heatbreak over Hillary pissing away the nomination. For her it was if not Hillary, then who? If not now, when, 2040?

In 2000 when Hillary was running for senate she had a Hillary sticker on her car (very popular here in NE Tarrant County). She was leaving the grocery store one day and a man made a snide comment about the sticker. Mother pretended she hadnt heard him and asked him to step closer, which he did. At which time she swung her walker at him.

When I asked her later "Mother! What if you had hit him"? Her response was simple "Honey, If I had meant to hit him, I would have hit him."

For all you Obama believers in Austin, i know they sold out very quickly the Obama/Biden yard signs, there is a rumor 10,000 more will be available for sale tomorrow at the Dem. headquarters at 11th and I-35.

This is not the "Bradley Effect." That's an instance of telling pollsters one thing and voting another way.

I think in the case of Obama, the people who aren't voting for him because of race aren't telling pollsters they are.

The racial component is already factored into the polling despite the hopes of McCain & Co.

I'm having a flashback to the day of the 1976 election. Maybe because in retrospect, the present presidential race and climate could be said to be similar to that of Carter/Ford. I was in elementary school. Back in 1976 you got the day off from school on election day. Of course back then you also got President's Day, Columbus Day, and Good Friday off. You also were able to enjoy a little Halloween party and Christmas party at school. Isn't liberal political correctness a godsend?!

But back to that day....my sisters and I went around all day with our mom as she ran errands. One of her stops was going to a voting booth. Later that evening she was driving a couple of us home from soccer practice and listening to an AM station, and we learned that Carter was probably going to win. I don't remember her exact quote, but it was something along the lines of "you get what you get."

    How telling.

FWIW, polls are showing that slightly more Republicans support McCain than Democrats support Obama. It cuts both ways.

And at a 52% voting rate, we get exactly the government that we deserve.

i try to see the other side's POV, but it is hard to come up with any other word than pathetic.

The only way Obama loses is if Democrats don't vote for him because of his color. I think Sarah Palin actually helps Democrats who say they will vote for him actually vote for him.

Is anyone saying that Bush is the best president ever? Not me. The hatred that some of you have for Bush is almost psychotic. Are any of you on meds for anxiety? It seriously wouldn't surprise me. It's like reading a rosie o'donnell blog.

Obama as president. A dem majority in both houses. The possibility of the appointments of far left liberal judges. Do you have any idea how scary that is? Did any of you delusional dems even read the first part of my post? We now live in a country in which putting up Christmas trees have been banned in certain segments. People want to take GOD out of the Pledge. Children's soccer games don't get scored anymore because everyone has to be 'even'.

Obama and a liberal government = far left liberal policies and an increasing liberal climate in every way you can imagine. Like I said, we're all about to get what we get.

BTW the pledge was written by a socialist and it wasn't until about 60 years later that "under god" was added.

Why do you assume that I voted for Bush? What does this have to do with me not supporting Obama? If you can find one post that I've ever made in which I support Bush, then let me know because I can't remember one. What does Bush have to do with Obama anyway? Come on, can't you do better?
