I've said it before and I'll say it again. If one of Barak Obama's teenage daughters got knocked up by a high school dropout, the James Dobson's of the world would be howling. The racial implications would be horrible. You should probably change the title of the thread to something involvding the words "Palin's Babies Daddy."
Its a free country. If the kid wants to drop out of school he can. Thousands of others do it all the time. He is of course stupid to do so but he is free to be stupid. It doesn't mean he still can't be a success or go back to school later. But he sure made his odds against doing that longer with this action. Hook em
I am a bit curious, is Bristol attending high school right now? I know a lot on the right howl and complain about high schools that accommodate pregnant teens/teen monthers because they feel it condones the pregnancy/teen motherhood.
Sarah Palin's "family values" hypocrisy is showing. Seriously, I think we can all agree that getting a HS education a core value in the list of "family values", can't we?
Of course there are exceptions, but two married teenage high school drop outs with a baby is not usually a good recipe for success in this country. Should have used a condom, you two! Having a bowl full of condoms at the front door in the Palin house probably would have prevent this.
This is a good thing. If you drop out of high school, you get to avoid exposure to any offensive books that might be in the high school library or part of a teacher's curriculum.
Wow sure are a lot of judgmental comments for a group of open-minded types. Best of luck and get that GED
TLI - You're right, we should encourage our kids to drop out if they find the road too tough. It's closed minded of us to expect them to get an education.
No, not what I would do, or advocate. It does depend on the alternatives, how close he is to graduating, what he's being offered.
he'll be fine - he'll get his ged, get a ripe job in the oil patch, and pull down $70k a year within 10 years. this is alaska we're talking about, not austin, tx.
