We longhorns need to get a grip, and stop acting like it is the biggest crime in human hostory if OU plays in the NC game. That is not the crime. They are quite possibly among the best two teams out there, and they only lost to possibly the best team out there (or one at least on par with them) - Texas. They choked for nearly 15 minutes to us and paid for their top defensive player going out. We choked for 10 seconds with two freshmen mistakes with our top Def player and one of the top three offensive players missing the game, against a top-8 team that only lost to OU. A Texas-Oklahoma national championship game to remove all doubts will not be any huge crime, even if we keep saying we beat them. Yeah we did, but we did lose to a team they beat also (neutral, home and all that blah blah apart) - so don't blame somebody who has some doubt that needs clearing .. Damnit, play the NC between us and OU and let us put it all to rest. The real crime is if Texas and OU do not play for an NC. WHY THE FRIG SHOULD FLORIDA BE PLAYING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP? Is there any justification for it on the basis of any objective measure? Check to whom THEY lost. Rather than screaming that OU does not deserve to be in the NC, we should be talking about Florida having hardly a claim to play there. If at all anybody has a claim, it would be Bama - after all they lost only to a top-5 team. Florida has no business being in the NC, seeing who they had lost to. As an OU fan, I've waited to weigh in until a post such as this. Why does Florida get a free pass? They lost AT HOME to Ole Miss!!!! It should be OU-Texas in Miami for all the marbles. Here's hoping it'll come out that way tomorrow. G

You can make a case that Texas is deserving to be in the game ahead of both blow u and FL.....a very strong case can be made. Sadly, the fix is in and it will be blow vs. FL. Gators chomp in the sunshine state and win by 10 pts....45-35 over blow u.
Sure a strong case can be made that we are the best team on record. A strong case can be made that OU is at least in the top-2, as well. It is tough to make a case for Florida being in the top-2. When everybody has one loss each, you have to look at whom you beat and to whom you lost. It is all pretty simple right now, but the voters would show their cluelessness tomorrow. I am OK about preventing a conference rematch, but not if the team kept out is the one who won the head-to-head. I mean, really, can the voters be that clueless? In our haste to talk "45-35", have we forgotten to do the real campaign that was needed - which was to argue that a rematch is a more fair solution than having a lesser Florida team in there. Why were everybody just easily accepting the fact that Florida would be in the NC, when we trained our guns on OU all along? Bull. Name the traditional power (that annually recruits an elite class and is having a great season), that OU defeated this year. They only played one this season and they lost. Florida beat Alabama on a neutral field and thats more than OU has done this season right there. Texas beats OU on a neutral field same song. Where is the comparable win from OU?
i really think that OU and Texas are the two best teams. but, they have to have a rep from the SEC. it is the unspoken rule as of late. plus, one of needs to ***** slap them. hopefully, we can do it.

Texas was better that day. OU had a better season. OU got to the MNC game with a crappy rule. But, even without the rule I think they may just be better than us. One day is not enough. We beat Nebraska in 96. Were we better than them? No.

OU had a "better" season than us. So then, I guess we weren't in their season? Go back to drooling over the shiny objects. They may have made their way to the MNC game as we stood on the sidelines, but we did have our chance to take care of that. Now they get to play for it against a team that seems to be able to get to the QB in a game where the refs will care that holding a penalty.
I really think Texas should be more upset that Florida is ahead of them. OU is a great team. Why all the love for the Gators? That to me is the biggest mystery!
