Usually, the party in power is the one that gets in trouble. The culture of corruption will just change party names for the next 4 or so years.
Mr. Rangel's use of political funds to enrich himself and his family is just as disgusting as was Tom Delay, I hope there are prosecutors willing to follow up. Maybe I'm a homer and believe that Delay, a much more competent, creative and powerful political leader, was naturally the focus of much more national media attention. We have to rely on our media and prosecutors to make sure the people we send to Washington are doing the peole's business. Using political fund for private gains is a step onto the slippery slope that ultimately leads to government looking out for their patrons at the expense of good government.

The government would lose money running a porn website. Remember the Mustang Ranch whorehouse in Nevada? The gov took it over for non payment of taxes, ran it for awhile and lost money. That is hard to do. As for corruption, this kind of nepotism is pretty much standard among the political class in this country regardless of party. Teddy Kennedy got his brother Jack's Senate seat the year he came of age, W gets elected governor of our state on no resume at all, Governor Moonbeam got his dad's old job in California when he was still in his thirties, etc, etc. Now there is talk that Caroline Kennedy or Cuomo's kid may get Clinton's seat in the Senate. And what was her experience other than being Bill Clinton's other girlfriend and wrecking health care reform? Sickening.
Rangel is not doing his son any favors by paying him money for doing nothing. Obviously, says a lot about the corruption in D.C. Also says a lot about the type of father Rangel is. "Don't worry son. Don't go out and make your own way in this world. I'll pay you money out of my campaign funds to do nothing. I'll take care of getting jobs for you. You'll learn a lot from that."
Rangel is jsut a slightly less slimey Tom DeLay- if you can determine the degree of a level of slime.
