Anybody know why Cornyn is against HRC as SOS?

He is the lone dissenter, from a Fox News Article. Is there some history there? Or is he pissed that she campaigned for Noriega?

    ...Big John......

I am sure he will be playing "the C;intons will be selling influence to foriegn countires nonsense via Clinton's Global initiative non-profit. I absolutely think there needs to be more transpareny there ONLY because her status as SOS, but that's the price of entry.

Cornyn is probably trying to elevate himself among the shrinking GOP hardline base, and this is one way to grab some media coverage.

I appreciate the serious responses, I think there is more to it, the way she and Bill campaigned for Noriega was kinda weird too. I actually thought that Noriega might have had a slight chance when they came down to campaign. There is something there.......

I wrote both of them describing how anti-bailout I was only to get auto-replies telling me how the bailout will save us all.

Cornyn is just another reason why Texas is politically one of the most embarrassing states.

Delay, Cornyn, Hair Perry, Dan Morales, Antonio Gonzales????

So all of you who posted snarky remarks about Cornyn don't think Clinton should be asked any questions their financial arrangements with foreign countries/ gov'ts?

They've been asked plenty of questions, and donations to Bill's charitable foundation have not been considered a reason to disqualify Hillary as our next Secretary of State.
Therefore, it appears Cornyn is simply delaying the vote out the need to continue the politics of personal destruction which has been the feature of our two parties for the last 20 years, and which Obama is trying to tone down.
Not a surprising move from such a right-wing senator, but it won't accomplish anything. He does have to work with the rest of the senate and the president to get infrastructure and other benefits for the state, and this won't help.

    Mad:

I sent emails to both of them against the bailout. I think we should compare emails, I have a feeling they are the same.

It is sort of depressing that you try and be a part of government and you get an automated email.

Actually he seems to be the only one taking his "Advice and Consent" responsibilities seriously. Seriously, no one else has any questions to ask?

Seems like the American Idol politics are in full force recently. Everybody is willing to overlook illegalities and ethical lapses if you are popular. If people don't like you or you don't have powerful allies you are out of luck.

The concerns expressed by Cornyn are legitamate but have already been addressed. B. Clinton agreed not to accept any more foreign contributions.

My belief is that Cornyn is positioning himself to run for President in 2012 or at least get his name out among Republicans so he will be considered a Veep candidate. This was a smart way to get some attention. I came home tonight and turned on the tv and the banner at the bottom on Fox news was about Cornyn delaying the inevitable approval.

So it looks like he made a smart political move that worked as intended.

    Bill Clinton is a swine.

i've hated the guy since his attorney general campaign in, i think, 1998. it was him and...gonzales? morales? and they just went after each other for months on some sort of vote. hated both ever since.

cowboy john ads made me snicker.

The Austin American Statesman called Cornyn's actions petty. I agree.

Did anybody notice the cowboy duds he wore in his ads in the last campaign? Would have embarassed PeeWee Herman.

It looked like he went to a western wear store and made his purchases from the ladies' department by mistake.
