My wife and I are going to San Antonio and staying on the Riverwalk for Valentine's on Saturday night. I wanted to know if any of you guys knew of a good place to eat on the Riverwalk. Im looking for a nice place, preferably about $25-50 a person. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks
Having been forced to stay there on a few occasions for cheerleading competitions Biga and La Margarita are the best on the riverwalk. Better food can be found away from the riverwalk.
I have to stay on the Riverwalk twice a year for work. Honestly, I would look other places for just off the riverwalk. The Rhein steak house is great, although it may be above $50.00 per person. I have probably eaten at every place on the actual Riverwalk at one time or another, and there are maybe 2 or 3 that are actually worth the money.
I'll be there for a convention next week. What are some good restaurants that are not too far from the Riverwalk? We don't mind driving some, but don't want to have to go too far north.
Not from SA, but a Riverwalk regular... Little Rhein Steakhouse is good. I would recommend it, even though it might be a bit higher than your pricing. Below your pricing is Casa Rio. Decent Tex Mex, and the place that started the River Walk really. I have been eating there for 25 years, and it is good.. and the history of it is something I enjoy.
yep, My wife has CLE classes there each year and we eat at Casa Rio as well, it's above average for good TexMex, and affordable...Who wants to drive?
I really like Boudro's. Food is really good, and they have a lot of offerings. Check out the website: The Link
midtown speaks the truth... but you aren't getting anywhere near Le Reve for $50 and you probably aren't getting in there for Vday, period. Delores Del Rio is a good recommendation but I'd call for a reservation pronto. Food is decent and it's a cool atmosphere. I like Pesca okay, but I never feel like I get that great of service or that great of food there. Another recommendation is Acenar next to the Valencia hotel for Mexican food, especially if the weather is nice enough to sit outside. In King William/Southtown a few blocks south you have Rosarios and El Mirador for good Tex-mex and Azucar is good for Cuban/Caribe fare. Le Frite is a Belgian/French type restaurant that is pretty good. I ate there last year for Vday with the wife and thought their prixe fixe menu was not a good value. I've never been a big fan of La Foccacia -- thought their food was bland. There's another new Italian place that opened up down there, but I don't have any reviews on it yet.
I could not disagree more about Casa Rio. I am consistently disappointed with their food. Zuni is good. If you want touristy mexican food that is actually good go to Mi Tierra. Not on the river walk but still in the area.
SA people don't go the the Riverwalk. Shrimp Paesano is really, really good. You might want to have a defibrillator close by.
