Horn6721, I don't think you will hear it from the left because they would look silly going back on their campaign rhetoric of "If we weren't in Iraq, we could be in Afghanistan". We will stay until Obama can claim that he got Osama and then we will leave. I hope we get him soon though because I don't see the point in losing more US lives and spending more US dollars in a battle with no mission. Surely, we aren't going to spend trillions to build Afghanistan from scratch when there are more friendly countries like Mexico which could use our help and are more directly related to our economic and social prosperity. And as most military personnel would agree, killing Osama is much easier with drones and special ops than it is with troop massings and sovereignty threats to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
jameson the USA has always honored its military dead. If you really cared enough about the subject to have researched it you'd know. does your post mean you are ok with killing innocent civilians?

Here's the opening of my original post: The smallest editorial in journalism..."only." It begs the question of the AP, if 13 "militants" and 13 civilians had been killed would "only" be applied? How about 26 "militants" and 3 civilians? What proportion of dead "militants" vs. dead civilians is necessary to write a story without the editorial comment "only?" I don't know why I'm wasting my time on someone who wants to argue a point I'm not making.
