I just got an automatic winding watch like a Rolex Oyster Perpetual (your arm motion winds it). I notice when I move the watch by my ear i can acctually hear the winding mechanism - is this normal? I'm sure it is but i wasn't expecting that.
Any takes on the Seiko kinetic vs. Citizen Eco? I want a titanium watch regardless and while I originally thought I liked Seiko now I think I want a Citizen.
I own an eco-drive and love it. I just scored an invicta watch too (diver chronograph) and the thing is HUGE!!!! Nice watch though.
I quit wearing a watch when I started carrying a cell phone. But I had a kinetic once and it was a good watch. The only problem I ever had was after I broke the knob off and couldn't set it. I would have to put it somewhere it wouldn't get moved and remind myself to shake it when it was at the correct time.
My husband received an engraved Citizen EcoDrive as his 25-year reward from his company. The guy won't wear it.
Yes you can hear the mechanism of a real Rolex. The problem is that a fake Rolex also has a sound and there is a difference. IUnfortunately your handle says Hong Kong which has a large bumber of the bad watches which still have the self winding movements.
It's not a fake, I think I may have alluded to the fact that it was a Rolex, but I just meant it had an auto-widing mechanism like a Rolex, it's not a Rolex. I'm not really a Rolex guy. I was just intrigued that the winding mechanism made noise. It actually sounds fairly interesting. You can certainly easily get fake watches here though
It's a trap, dude. "They" want you to listen. It sounds like a very cool watch. I know you did not go to Stanley nor upstairs to the house or office of some street vendor. I assume it is bad ***.
Well, what kind of watch is it? It is normal, much more audible is some watches than others. Rolex is fairly quiet. I hear it more in Breitlings, IWC, and Panerai.
I bought one of the first mechanical self-winding Rado watches (25 jewels - stainless steel case w/date window) in Hong Kong in 1958, for $20 new. Yes, it makes some winding noise when it's moved around.....and it still works. I hear these things are collector items now.

" It's a Patek Phillippe Calatrava - it has a glass window on the bottom you can watch the winding mechanism - it's really cool to look at.
