I see no reason to be offended if the party in question was not. It is a human quality (and one that I particularly exhibit myself) to have difficulty with names--particularly while under pressure. That being said I feel no sympathy for anyone who whines about the attention this is getting when they would have reamed Dubya for the same thing.
Man, I call him Bill Gates all the time and I don't know why. I guess its because he looks like a Bill to me and not a Robert.
This is stupid. This is not "news" worthy. That being said - we all know what would be happening if Bush made this same flub. Yes - you know Letterman / Leno / Colbert / J. Stewart / Olberman / mainstream media would be just beating this to death.
The problem is that Bush screwed up all the damn time. I woudl bet dimes to dollars that Obama has already spoken more works publicly than George W. Bush did in his first year in office.... But I understand that there are so few places for the Obama haters to hang their hats that calling Robert Gates the name of one of the most famous men in the world is a huge mistake that must be focused on...
Let this one pass. BHO is human - he made a small mistake in a speech. Big deal - he's not the first POTUS to misspeak - and he won't be the last. I'm confident that he will make more than enough important mistakes for us to criticize in the remainder of his term - he certainly has shown that ability! HHD
Put this is the GOP non real issues file next to teleprompters, flag lapel pins, quality of gifts to dignitaries, paling around with terrorists, etc. etc. etc.
