Guy holds a screwdriver to the neck of his terrified girlfriend, threatens to kill her, kidnaps her, and now he's a sooner. Seems about right to me. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Sooner fans everywhere must be so proud. What an honor to be associated with an institution with an ongoing commitment to let those with criminally violent tendencies represent it.

    Everybody does it
    You are obsessed
Charges were reduced when plea agreement made
    Screwdriver wasn't that sharp
    She had it coming
Most Sooner players don't do it

Spare me the excuses. If this kid were a Texas recruit, his 'ship would be long gone under Mack, and rightly so. If an institution I had supported did this, they would not get another penny from me until all involved were fired. But, hey, OU is free to run any kind of program it wants.

I personally plan on attending the RRR with a large poster containing nothing but a large drawing of a screwdriver

"As long as Justin Chaisson doesn't post any photos of himself on the Internet holding a screwdriver to a girl's throat, he's welcome to play football for the University of Oklahoma.
I believe he'll be a fine addition to our exemplary program."

So, the Sooners 'honored' the scholarship offer to someone who negotiated several felonies down to misdemeanors. Glad to heear it. I'm sure there weren't some decent hard-working kids that were more deserving of a $125K scholarship. [IMG]

Whats the big deal. Vodka & OJ in the throat is not a crime. SideShowBob will probably help him with mixing...

What happens if this guy actually hurts some OU coed on campus? If I am the young lady's daddy I am going to sue OU and Bob Stoops personally for letting that scumbag on campus with a free ride full well knowing his past tendencies.

I would not need the best lawyer to get some retribution.

Stoops is putting the University and himself in a bad situation IMHO.

    Hook'em!

UTPerks, I thought of that too. Course if he kidnapped my daughter, I'd do a Mel Gibson and put out a hit on him. What I find more shocking is how he can kidnap a 15 yr old and get the charges reduced off of a felony. That is more criminal then what Stoops has done. I mean you just don't do that kind of thing. Every. Under any circumstances. As a parent of a soon to be (fall) college co-ed, I'd want this kid as far from my campus as possible.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him go from being a Sooner to ending up a Cowboy.. Jerry always has a special place in his heart for the misfits..

And on the same day, Stoops cuts loose Justin Johnson the 4* from Gilmer. Stoops wished him the best of luck three times in rapid succession because Stoops is classy.

"Right now we anticipate him transferring, which is fine," Stoops said. "We'll give him a full release and wish him the best. We wish him the best. Certain guys seek certain things and he feels that's best for him. We want it for him as well."

I can remember when this story broke - I was on OUEngineer's side saying that I'll judge this after OU makes a decision. Texas had a similar deal with a LB years ago and cut him loose way before his situation was decided. It was embarrassing enough. For OU to take him after there was no mention of the weapon in the plea bargaining...wow, just wow. So the rest of that behavior is up to OU's standards for what it takes to get in? The key is that the screwdriver wasn't mentioned in plea? [IMG]

    This is deplorable.

Take 18 year old who is totally unstable at home with his close friends. Throw him into a town like Norman and a program like OU removed from his close friends. Stir vigorously. Follow on Hornfans as the disaster unfolds!!!

I was in that armpit of a state this week and listened to their excuse for sports radio a couple days, 97.1 fm in the tulsa area. they had a local writer on and asked about this kid after some roster news, his AP voting, and recruiting updates. i wish i had caught his name. the question asked by the host was, "is chaisson a good kid that got in a bad situation or a bad kid..." and he trailed off realizing the guy was not going to say he was a bad kid. the writer answers saying, "he is a good kid caught in a love triangle." he then goes on to talk about how chaisson broke off the relationship with the girl and how she continued to contact him and his current girlfriend. I was just a little shocked he would turn this on the girl and make it her fault. If anyone else caught the conversation please help me out with the rest of it.

A bizarre love triangle. Some of the more gruesome crimes are crimes of passion.
