With Steele's mag now out, and with several of the major college football publications releasing their predictions for the year, I figured it's a good time to start this up. Those of you who have been around the board a long time know this game but for those who may be new, I think a reset of how this works might help. I start by making a statement, about maybe a team, or even a player or coach. Someone answers with buy or sell with maybe a reason why - and here's the catch - he or she poses his own buy or sell as they answer. That way the thread keeps going. Also, a little bit of history behind this since I've never really detailed the history: I started doing this here years ago but to tell the truth it's not totally my creation. It was the creation of some poster on HuskerPedia (where I lurk sometimes) who did this before the 2004 season, and I simply found the game intriguing - kind of a fast-paced discussion about college football during the offseason - so I thought I'd carry it over here. So it's kind of a spinoff of the Around the Horn segment Buy or Sell and it's also a creation of some HuskerPedia poster. That said.... B or S: Colt McCoy wins the Heisman in 2009.
Sell, UT will squeak by both OU in Dallas and OSU in Stillwater and go undefeated in the conference. There will be another non-BCS conference team that goes to a BCS game. B or S?
Sell - USC has recruited more talent than any other team and Pete Carroll is a good coach. They will lose somewhere, but they will show up in The Shoe for that game. Buy or Sell - Lane Kiffin will lose two of his first three games at Tennessee....Western KY, UCLA, Florida.......
B or S: Chizik's leap from Ames to Auburn is mediocre at best and his seat gets hot on the Plains. Sell...His season will hinge on the Bama game. Win or keep it close and play tough and the War Eagle fans will give him a little more time. I wish him the best!
B or S: Although the game is at Gomer Pyle Field - Baylor, for the second year in a row, will totally thrash aggy.
I'm buying Baylor over aggy. Griffin is good and will make them look foolish. B or S: Colt leads the team in rushing in 2009.
I'l sell the Bama hype. They lost some very important players. I'll also sell Ole Miss. Houston Nutt almost always over achieves when there are low expectations and under achieves when they're high. They're high this year. Buy or sell. Robert Griffin from Baylor leads the conference in rushing.
Buy. I think Pryor leads in the air and Griffin on the ground. There are two undefeated BCS conference teams at the end of the season?
Buy: Oh St. has talent , coach who owns his rivals. BoS : Muschamp will have the nastiest snot knocking Defense in The Country or The Longhorn secondary will stop Sam Braford
Sell. If his O-line doesn't get him hospitalized. Buy or Sell. Can TCU finally bust the BCS this year?
