I need someone to pour a roughly rectangle-shaped area of about 200 feet at the side of a pool to create more patio/deck area. The Sundek people (who are doing the texture/topcoat) told me they can sub it out for me, but that I could get it way cheaper from someone else. The only concrete work I've had done before was from a guy who doesn't live in the area anymore, and I don't have enough faith in my abilities (I'm more of a wood and wire guy) not to make it look like ****. Anyone got any recs for someone who does great, practically free concrete work in 105 degree heat?

I had some sidewalk work done last spring. The guy who did it (actually one of his crews) did great work at a reasonable price. I have his name at home; will send it tonight if I remember. I went through a pretty rigorous quote process and was most impressed with this guy and he delivered. He was referred to me by a local concrete equipment supplier as someone who has been in business a long time, pays his bills, is reputable, etc. Funny thing is he said he could give me a longer list of the guys who don't pay their bills, etc. In general, I've found that asking trade suppliers like this for a referral works out really well. I've gotten some great work done reasonably priced and never been burned.

i just completed an outdoor kitchen project that I subcontracted my self. Do you need someone to just lay a slab (non-cosmetic)? Or, do you need someone who specializes in finished, stained concrete? both were involved in my project and I used 2 different guys for each of these phases of my project.

    1. LH Handyman from liberty hill. Ask for Rick. They laid a concrete slab (approx 65 sq feet) and built a cinder block hardscape. We live in South Austin and they did not mind coming all the way down from Liberty Hill. These guys were so reliable and reasoneable. i will use them again in the future for basic handyman projects up to possible re-models.

    2. I used Moderncrete for the finished countertop. They installed a 2 inch stained concrete countertop cut to spec for my sink/grill, etc. the finished product looks great, yet it was the priciest part of the project. i would recommend them for future work. Ask for Dan.

DB Contractors, 219-1919, in Austin. I think they do stained, etc. My project was exposed aggregate and it turned out great.

Thanks for the responses, this is just to lay the concrete, Sundek will be doing the treatment...we've actually had some scored concrete done in the house by Bravo Concrete Floors, in the end they did a good job but there was a lot of ******** and foot dragging, I can't really recommend them...
