I think it's more like 750K these days.

What I have always noticed is that there are traffic cops at intersections at MLK and also Dean Keeton. Other than that there are no traffic cops south of MLK. There are a ton of parking garages there and no direction of traffic out of them.

For the garage right near the stadium......well you should expect to wait with that many pedestrians still leaving the stadium.

I too was in R. Got there about 4:30 or so and was on 4. Stayed for the game and the Eyes and then got back to the Garage got the car out and then sat for 40 minitues. Didn't get over to Tarrytown where we were staying until sometime after midnight. Not sure what the fix is, but I know there sure isn't much in the way of traffic control before the game. It sure would have helped trying to come over on 15th and turn North on Trinity.

One of the State Troopers told us last year that DPS is responsible for the area south of mlk not only on game day but all other day's as well. Last year before the Mizzou game that started at 7:00 He told us that their new supervisor told them that all DPS that were not contracted out for security had to work the 6 a.m. till 2 p.m. shift for that area and then they could go home. From 2 p.m. on there were no extra officers.
I have to believe the same thing happened this last week. We got there at 7:30 a.m. and saw dps cars driving up and down San Jacinto until about noon and then they were gone.

The real problem is the people. Turning left or right on any street is greatly restricted because of the people crossing in front of you. If we could get people to let the cars turn before they jump out into the street, the traffic would actually flow and most of the problems would solve themselves.

What was the game last year where there was some running race the next morning, and the downtown street closures were supposed to happen at 2 am, but the idiots went and closed a bunch of downtown streets at 10, before the game let out? You could not get to the 1st St bridge from the UT area, just going around in circles.

The combined genius of UT and the City of Austin on traffic is hard to fathom.

That was the Rice game last year. The Si Labs Marathon Relay was that next day. I know b/c I ran the 11k portion of it in the morning. Ran it in 8:10 min/mile pace which shocked me as we had tailgated almost the entire day the day before. I wasn't expecting to do that well.

People were driving the wrong way down the ramps. In the past that has not been the case. Sat in the garage for hours with a friend who has had season tix and parking for decades. He said they normally have people directing traffic. They didn't on Sat. night.

I'm going to say it. We have too damn many people at our games now. It was much more enjoyable with 75,000.

    God, I'm officially old.

We park in the pink lot and there was absolutely no traffic getting into the lot and hour and a half before kickoff. We have never had a problem getting out of that lot in under 2 minutes, but it was over an hour before we so much as moved the length of our car. Not sure what the deal was.
