Tebow and Florida got help against the Hogs and it was not Divine Intervention.... it was the officials. Hogs had just scored to take the lead and Florida comes roaring back with 2 calls ( 1 for interference and one un-sportsman like conduct) that even the announcers called bogus. And then on the winning drive, there was a non-call on an obvious offensive inerference in the end zone that the announcers also said should have been called. I hope we have a shot at this phoney (Tebow)..... and that Ingram at Bama is awesome.
And there was also a 2nd-and-9 where Tebow ran, was clearly short, but the officials spotted the ball past the first down marker.
We were at a bar after the OU game watching this and could not believe that Florida was given, GIVEN 30 yards on that last drive by the officials.
As employees of the SEC, the refs have an interest in making sure that an undefeated Florida plays an undefeated Alabama in the SEC championship. You won't see either lose a close game. Someone will have to blow them out to win. Its long past time that the NCAA take over all refereeing duties. The Big 12 refs have long been homers as well.
That unsportsman like penalty call was one of the worst calls I have ever seen. The official that made the call should no longer be employeed.
It's long past time that referees in every single major sport stop scripting things WWE style and start calling games like real sports, not scripted sports. I saw the footage. Petrino and Arkansas got railroaded.
How Wheels Turn.... SEC grows toward a mammoth tv deal with CBS / ESPN, and now their games are so highly visible -- in full HD, too! -- whatever inconsistencies there are in the calling of the games, is glaringly there for millions to see.
i think officials should work for the ncaa, not the leagues. lots of problems would change from the present problems to other problems if that were the case.
I'm glad someone else noted the "generous" spot Tebow received on that play--Gary and Vern sure didn't. The officiating in the last half of the final quarter of the Arkansas-Florida game was criminal. As I watched the game, coupled with what transpired at the end of the LSU-Georgia game some weeks ago, a sudden wave of depression swept over me. I'm a cynical person and I understand that all institutions possess some amount of corruption and deceit, but I still want to believe that college football and the NFL are as close to the "honest" paradigm as big-money enterprises get. That's obviously wishful thinking, and that realization is what got me depressed as I watched Florida "rally" to "beat" Arkansas. I also never thought they'd be so blatant about it. R.I.P., naivete.
Nice post WizardofHawgz. Your MS Paint skillz are exzquizit. That is some pretty damning evidence. Absolutely atrocious officiating.
I am with you GemStateJim. It consider myself a cynic, too, but I guess I hold on to some allusions too. Well, hopefully UT can expose Tebow of St. Augustine and his false prophets on a stage where the fix won't be in.
