I'm pretty comfortable with what T.Cody will do vs their center who weighs 260lbs. [IMG]

I dunno, this is not the Fulmer-coached teams of old that give up at the first sign of adversity. They're still missing some pieces, but the effort is there. The Vols are also coming off a bye, while Bama is coming off Ole Miss and SC.

Just a little piece of trivia that's not making headlines:

This may not amount to anything, but with the recent rule change, both teams had an agreement before the season started to go back to wearing their home jerseys for each contest (orange and crimson) as was done in years past. At the last minute (literally yesterday), Bama reserved course and refused the Vols "request". This could be seen as a bit of a snub, which is often not a good idea for a heated rivalry such as this.

But yeah, I'll be surprised if the Vols pull the upset. But I'd be more surprised with a Bama blowout, this team plays very tough. Bama's D is very good, while the Vols O is "streaky" at best.

The game is in Tuscaloosa, BTW.

*Edit: Squall is right, the Vols 5th year, all-SEC center went down with a recurring knee injury, and they now have a 260# former walk-on playing center. I'm going to say that running up the middle will not be effective.

I would like their chances more if the game was in Knoxville. That being said, this game is a huge rivalry. Having grown up in the area I can tell you that the level of hate between the two schools is nearly that of TX-OU. Tennessee has shown flashes of competence this year and it would be interesting if they could string together a few consistent quarters. I would really like to see a team sellout to stop Ingram and make Bama beat them through the air. That being said, I think Tennessee has a difficult time scoring.

South Carolina was within 7 of Bama into the 4th quarter. I think Tennessee can make a game of this.

The Titans would not have a chance against Alabama. [IMG] Tennessee might.

If the SEC is so tough overall as a conference, and winning against any SEC team warrants a jump in the polls, then why would Tennessee have "no chance in hell?"

They are not a Baylor or Iowa State. Bama is beatable. Tenn. played Florida close. People here are hypocrites. Many here scoff at the SEC love, but then turn around and go along with it by saying Tenn. has no chance in hell. But unless Texas is playing the above mentioned teams, many here question if Texas can win. I've already read many who "hope" we beat Mizzou and who are"scared" of playing OSU in Stillwater. Yes, we seem to struggle there, but we always win.

Give me a break. Not likely, but, yes, Tenn. has a chance against Bama.

I am ignorant of SEC history. Why is this such a big rivalry? I thought the Iron Bowl was the big one for Bama.

Texas beat OU by 3, Florida at home over Ark by 3 and South Carolina gave Alabama a game. Tenn. can give Alabama a game at home.

If we're talking about the Titans, no, they don't have a chance against Georgia or Bama either.

I think They have a great chance. They have got a very tough, quick D. I see a low scoring affair. Fake UT offense wont go anywhere. Their D or Special teams will have to score. They can keep Bama out of the endzone.

    I'm so conflicted.

I like the Tennessee program, but Lane Kiffin makes me want to [IMG].

However, a Tennessee victory would help the Longhorns greatly.

Oh, what to do? Guess I'll suck it up and be a Vols fan this week.

    This just in as well...

the same officiating crew that helped LSU stay undefeated vs georgia; and Florida stay undefeated vs Arkansas : will be doing the Tenn vs Bama game. adjust betting habits accordingly [IMG]

The game's in Tuscaloosa, and it's the only game of the year where I focus completely on the game i'm about to attend instead of watching all the other games. it's kind of Texas vs A&M = iron bowl. step child of the same state or the neighbors to the North who have actually historically battled you for championships.

I personally feel Bama and Tenn should play twice every year [IMG]

I'm with you on the focus Squall, although I have to admit it has shifted some by the emergence of SOS/UF, and to a degree UGA. Bama is the game I personally want more than any other, but unfortunately it does not mean as much in the conference standings.

Tennessee has about as much chance of beating Alabama as Mississippi State has of beating Florida.

I don't think a Monte Kiffin defense is going to get blown out.

Does Tennessee have a chance??? Absofrigginlutely!!! if Tennessee can shut down the Bama passing game, which is quite possible considering that they have the 10th ranked pass defense in the country and force Bama to be one dimensional, then they have a hell of a shot.

Could Ingram run wild on Tenn the way he did on SC? Sure, but don't bank on it. SC has the 71st ranked rush defense while Tenn's rush d ranks 31st. Even giving up the yards to Ingram that SC did, that game was much closer than the final score.

Tenn played Florida close and I don't think it was a fluke either. Also consider that this is a rivalry game between the two schools and as we all saw this weekend, rivalry games are as unpredictable as they have ever been. They ARE playing in Tuscaloosa, however this is a day game. The atmosphere will not be as intense as it would be if this were a night game imo.

Am i talking out of my arse?? I could be but i just have a feeling about this game. I'm taking Tenn to not just cover the spread but pull the upset.

What ever the result, it will be a low scoring game in which pundits will drool over how kick *** the SEC is.

There is some history of ill will between the two schools because one of them, Tennessee under Fulmer, I believe, turned in Bama for some recruiting violations. Angered Bama fans pretty good. Ill feelings remain.
