i personally love london but dont think an nfl franchise would work there. it is only about a 4-5 hour flight from ny to london but it would basically be 10.5 hours non-stop from london to the west coast, but they would have to stop bc the nfl teams dont charter 777's. a superbowl in london would be crap. rain and 35-40 degrees since they dont have a domed stadium.

The Super Bowl is worth way too much money to a city to give it to London. Stupid idea.

What time would a Super Bowl game start in London. I have a feeling that the west coast wouldn't be too happy with just about any time that would be convenient in London.

Some NFL owner will figure out how to create a taxing authority in the middle of the Atlantic to build an island to house a new all luxury box domed stadium.

LAX to Heathrow used to be a business regular commute for me.

It's about an 8 hour flight. And when it's 8:00 a.m. in LA, it's 4:00 p.m. in London. I remember that because our telephone conversations needed to start at 8:00 a.m. sharp since nobody ever stayed in our London office past about 4:30 p.m. (British work ethic).

An 8:00 p.m. kickoff London time would be a noon one in LA. Not horrible for the U. S., but not as nice as the late afternoon/early Super Bowl evening kickoffs they have now.

But Super Bowls belong in the U.S. London has its Hyde Park, its Grosvenor House and its Marble Arch, et. al. Leave the SB in the States where it belongs.

I think this would be a logistical nightmare. Considering the records of teams that travel across the country for road games....a west coast team would (according the the numbers) never win a game in London.

With the two-week break between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl, plus getting to London early enough for all the Super Bowl Week activities, I don't think even the West Coast teams would have a problem with jet lag or other travel-related issues.

But regular season games, yeah, big problem.

    Still, bad, bad idea.

being a dual citizen of the US and UK I will say that it is possible, but should not happen. there are real football fans in the UK and Europe but not enough to sustain a franchise. There have been good turn outs to the London games the past few years because it is a once a year event for all american football fans in the area to flock to.

I fly to Gatwick from houston and it takes 8 hours...and 9 hours + on the return flight. It just would not work into the travel plans for the NFL schedule. realistically teams would need 4 to 5 days just to recover from jet lag and adjust to the time change to be able to perform at their normal level...just won't work out and won't be nothing more than a fringe sport in the UK like soccer is here.
