I felt compelled to show these numbers on Jordan as he is winding down a great career at UT. If there are some numbers that don't seem to matchup, they were taken from the records on Mack Brown Texas Football. UT will now play its bowl game and Jordan's final game.Receptions Single Game Record1 Jordan Shipley 15 v. Oklahoma State 2008 Receptions Single Season Record 1 Jordan Shipley 106 2 Kwame Cavil 100 3 Quan Cozby 92 4 Jordan Shipley 89 Jordan became the all time season receptions leader at UT tonight. He needs 35 yards to pass Roy Williams and move into the #8 slot. All Purpose Yards Single Game #8 Jordan Shipley 287 UCF 2009 Punt Returns Career Tied for first all time with Aaron Ross and Jim Moore with 3. Jordan is the only UT player to have a punt and kickoff return for TD's in the same season. He holds the record for consecutive games with a TD reception at 8. Jordan is also the only UT player with a receiving, punt return and kick return for TD's in a season. Not bad for a little ol' 3A player from central Texas.
It's Cosby. Surprised Mack's website has it misspelled. Or are you just trying to help us pronounce his name? As for the main topic... cool. Shipley is one of the all-time greats at UT.
Amazing stats from a great young man. With all the injury problems he had early in his career it's amazing where he's ending up at.
I thought it was Crosby, but sorry for the mistake. Guess I should have just put the Great Quan and left it at that.
Shipley and McCoy have some tandem records going, and that might be a worthy post at the end of the year. Maybe the next Shipley/McCoy tandem will be even better
Thanks for putting this together. You should update it each week as he closes in on a few of those season/career records. One small gripe...
The future McCoy passed for 25 of 40 for 391 yards for Graham HS, & the possible future Shipley caught 9 for 242 yards & 2 TDs for Brownwood HS when they played last each other Friday night. The game ended 28-27 Bwd over Graham. Both made some unbelievable plays. Case is a sr. commit, but Jaxon is still a jr. Case may have to wait on Gilbert, & Jaxon -- we'll have to wait & see.
It's a great nickname for him. Initially coined because he was only a whisper of a rumor who, due to multiple injuries, couldn't get on the field to showcase his talents, it now refers to the fact that he haunts the nightmares of defensive coordinators and special teams coaches throughout the Big 12. Hook 'em, Jordan!
Ship has been a great player for Texas. Hope he finishes strong this season so that he will be top 2 or 3 in every UT record and go down as a great all-time UT player....which he is.
Great stats for an amazing career here. I wonder if whoever drafts them will petition to get them as a packaged deal.
Can't say enough positives about Ship. He's gone from an injury-plagued recruit to a solid producer to a top target and, finally, to one of the best in school history--and that's not taking into account his special teams contributions.
"McCoy to Shipley" is the reason I never panic on 3rd and 8. It will be hard next year without them. Thank goodness we have their brothers coming eventually!
I think I only saw him "drop" one ball in three years of high school. His little brother has the same skill, always catches the ball with his hands.
National games at 11am that showcase both he and Colt are good for their chances at post season hardware. I wonder what time the KU game will be?
Another big game for Shipley. He is going to absolutely destroy the single season UT records for receptions and yards. He is only 3 back in the TD category with 3 games to play. He'll have a good chance to tie or break that one as well. In addition to all of his receiving exploits he also has 2 PRs for TDs this year and 1571 all-purpose yards. He is on pace to have 1500 receiving yards and over 2000 all-purpose yards and barely gets a whiff at Heisman consideration. I guess he just isn't flashy enough.
Just based strictly on numbers, Jordan is having an equal, and IMO a far superior season than that supposed Heisman frontrunner Ingram. Ingram has 1,395 yards rushing with 12 TD and 225 yds receiving with 3 TD. Hell, I think Ricky had those numbers in '98 by the RRS. Jordan has 1,204 yds 9 TD, and 2 TD on punt returns. And unlike Ingram, he plays on one of the most explosive offenses in the country and is a central reason opponents fear this team. Seriously, who the hell fears Alabama's offense? BTW I don't think Jordan is the most important player to the team this year, I still think it's Colt and I would bet Jordan would say the same thing. He's a first team All-American and a Belitinikoff Winner in my book. Best damm receiver in the country.
