Getting married in January. All my wedding party has been in weddings before so they all have cufflinks, flasks, money clips and watch holders. Anyone have ideas out of the ordinary?

I paid for their attire in lieu of gifts and appreciate anyone that does the same.

25 Years ago I received a Schrade pocketknife that I am still carrying to this day.

    Thanks, Cuz.

I paid for the matching ties they wore. They got the jackets or had them already.
Dinner is nice, but given you are already giving a free dinner or two during the wedding/weekend not a necessity.

I did white dress shirts, with monograms of their initials on the left breast area. Matching ties for ushers. They all really liked it.

I don't really remember what my brother in law got me 4-5 years ago, but I do remember one of the things. For each groomsmen he bought one share of stock in a company that related to the groomsmen in some way, framed the share and wrote a little note on the edge. For me, I got a share of stock in Krispy Kreme (long story) which is worthless now but is framed next to my computer. My brother was at A&M at the time and thus got one share in ConAgra, to which he occasionally receives checks in the mail for 5-10 cents depending on the market.

How much money do you have to spend on each?

Anything below $200 is an option.

I would say pay for some type of road trip with the guys. That would go over well typically. Such as a ticket for a Horns road game

Best gift I ever got was from a pledgebrother's wedding in 1998 or 1999. We each got 20 or 28 gauge Browning Citori's and a King Ranch hard breakdown case with our intials on them.

Yes we were all very very surprised at the rehearsal dinner when we arrived at our seats to find them.

Most unique was a custom set of cowboy boots from another pledgebrother's wedding in 2002. The boot maker was from the Valley and was set up @ the rehearsal dinner to measure our feet and we had a few customization options to make them unique... got them about 4 mos. later and they had "love Bride and Groom" on the neck of the rear of the left boot.

this may seem cheap. but when i got married I didn't have a lot of money. so i bought scratch off tickets. i was hoping somebody would win 25,000. that would be a cool gift. however, this idea pales in comparison to the shotguns. however, that's not the norm. and i think if you were that rich you wouldn't be asking here.

Well basically I was in San Antonio at the time before they had KK's. One way or another and I don't remember how this happened, but KK sent me a letter telling me I was a KK ambassador for their new store in San Antonio, which meant, one week before it opened I got to go there and eat and drinks as much as I wanted for free, and, afterwards I was allowed to take 1 dozen regular and 1 dozen assorted per person that I brought. I also got a ton of free dozen coupons which I would later use to bribe people to let me cut in line when they finally did open, because me and my friends would go and take them back to our school and sell em $1 a donut and we'd sell out before school even started. Pretty good racket, until they opened one down the street from our school (which I got invited to do the pre-opening party again)

I got my boys an autographed mini helmet from their favorite school. Got them on ebay, so it didn't cost more than $50 each.

It really sucked having to buy that damn Boz helmet. But, the guy is like a brother to me, and he loved it, so it all worked out.

I bought monogrammed humidors and split a box of nice cigars between them. Because of how many I bought (and I guess because I'm a regular customer), the guy at the shop gave me a decent discount. Worked out to about $75 per groomsman.

Best man got a crystal whiskey set and and a bottle of Caol Ila.

Best man got us engraved pocket watches for his wedding.

Of all the gifts I got during the wedding years (I am now 43, so the groomsman days are long gone), there are several that are cool (Tiffany key ring, with a golf ball on it), but only two that I still use a lot: silver bottle opener (needs to be polished a lot, but looks great when it's clean...I bring it out for nice dinner parties....it's heavy and feels great) and a monogramed LL Bean duffle bag (still in use for quick trips).

Getting married in March and I bought monogrammed wine stoppers and over the next few months I'll subtly try to figure out their respective wine preferences.

What about a monogramed bath robe? From LL bean, it would be about 70 bucks each.

I dunno... we didn't have anywhere near that much to spend. I think if I could spend up to 200 bucks, I'd buy each person something special. One guy might like a gun, another a really fancy knife....

Maybe you could pay for each groom to make his own wine? You can do this at Water to Wine in Austin, and you make custom labels and stuff.

I hit up an outlet mall and bought some nice watches for all my groomsmen, which they all seemed to like.

If they're single, give them gift certificates to a marriage counselor since half of them will probably have the huge, expensive wedding that ends up in divorce anyway.
