That no Final Four in the past 6 years is ********. First of all, it conveniently draws a line so he doesn't get credit for making it with TJ Ford and a rag tag group of other players. Since then, he's gotten to the Elite 8 twice. One of those times we lost to Memphis who eventually won it all - and oh, I forgot, they didn't really because they cheated. And, somehow Barnes is blamed for not getting to the Final Four with Durant as a freshman? Maybe, he should of told Durant to shoot more. Just gonna make it more sweet win we do make it this year.
^ ^ Memphis lost to Kansas even with the cheating................there was this little free throw issue they couldn't overcome.
4RealHorn - what's ypur point? Kansas was clearly the best team that year. We beat them in our house, but I walked away from that game more impressed with Kansas than the Horns. They were incredibly deep and athletic. I expected that they would win it all and they did. But, my point, was we 'would' have made it to the Final Four - if we hadn't run into Memphis. And, some would argue that we 'did' because their season was scrapped. Actually, I thought Barnes some of his best coaching that year. Despite a couple impish guards and no true center (Pittman still a work in progress and Atchley more of natural 4-position), we made a deep run. Certainly, not a year where you could say that Barnes wasn't getting it done.
If I remember right, PJ Tucker missed the front end of 1-and-1 that would have put us in the FF. And that Memphis team should have won it all.
And that was the Memphis team that just had to take their final 4 banner down, yes? They were cheaters. Hard to beat a pro team.
