Awesome. Dobbs is a total douchebag and stuck out like a sore thumb at CNN. Now if only two other networks would take a hint, which they never would, perhaps partisan bickery could take a hit for once.

what's wrong with dobbs, he bashed bush administration when they were wrong and now he is bashing obama. he was the only sane person at CNN.

Because not everyone likes to mix the editorial section with the news section. It has nothing to do with his opinions.

Thus- the fracas we have over on the other fox news thread.

Dobbs routinely offended leftist notions of political correctness especially on the illegal immigration issue. As a result, his days at CNN had to be numbered. Now CNN will probably just shift further to the left than they already are.

Good luck with that strategy, CNN. You are going to need it.

You have to give CNN a little credit- while I find the programming a little dull- they have avoided the childish banter hours that both MSNBC and Fox use to attract the tea bag party types of both sides.

Without Dobbs, they do not have a full Opine hour like their competitors. I would think Larry King is considered neutral given his preference to interview actors and story of the week types.

Actually I do Don Johnson. I don't like any of the opine losers who jump up and down like clowns, inciting hatred and crazy people in the country. I read a few online newspapers for news mostly, and watch a network station if I am free at night.

Don, try not to guess how people feel however. And say hi to Rico Tubbs for me.

Well, we know how some news organizations feel about him. From the new york times:

"Lou Dobbs, the longtime CNN anchor whose anti-immigration views have made him a TV lightning rod, said Wednesday that he is leaving the cable news channel effective immediately."

He is nowhere near anti-immigration, he is against illegal immigration, not quite the same thing. This is one of the things I hate about the left, they portray those seeking a solution to all the illegal immigrants flowing into this country a bunch of boggots and racists.

Perhaps the question should be does any opinion show belong on 24 hour 'news networks'? I hear people on here complain about all of the opinion types of one stripe or another or all of them.

I personally don't consider many of them 'news journalists, but I don't have a problem with any of the networks carrying these folks either. They all appeal to their audience, which is in general what networks do.
What I do have more of a problem with is the lack of distinct lines drawn between 'news' and 'opinion'.

  11. i like what he had to say. Especially the shot at our representation in Washington (for those who didn't watch he was speaking broadly and seemingly about both parties).

Hopefully he will wind up at Fox. He was the only reason I ever lingered on CNN for any time at all.

What would be the socialist solution to healthcare or more directly what kind of healthcare system would a socialist society have?

His show, like Glenn Beck's, just always felt like I was watching live radio. These guys don't report anything. They just sit at a desk and talk to either live guests or to a guest on a satellite feed. They usually have very little factual information and most of what they do is either skewed or made up. They obviously pander to a certain viewpoint and as such a certain audience. They aren't really there to mediate a discussion of opposing view points but more there to present their own, or perhaps the viewpoint of their audience. I really never could understand the purpose of watching it.

Dobbs will be joining Fox as soon as his contract with CNN allows.

This coming from the guy who portrays those seeking a solution to the healthcare problem as socialists. Pot, meet kettle.

government run healthcare is socialism. Those, as you call them, seeking a solution to the healthcare problem have no interest in eliminating waste, fraud, greed, etc. These are the problems facing healthcare. Those, as you call them, want to replace the private sector with the government. FYI, there is a reason we have the most innovative healthcare treatments in the world. It's the reason why the wealthy in other countries come here for treatment.

You have compared this isse to a simple one of those breaking federal law and whether they should be allowed to do that. bravo

general - no you dolt, the issue isn't about healthcare or immigration. it's about how one group represents the other on the issue.

there are people who want to keep people from entering the country illegally. they are casted as racists and bigots. i AGREE with you that this is absurd, even if some of the more radical folks actually have racist or bigoted intentions.

there are people who want to majorly reform our healthcare system. they are casted as socialists and nazis. i believe this is equally as absurd, even if some of the more radical folks have socialist intentions.

describing your opponent by the worst among them is NOT something that is done by only one side or the other, that was my point. i am sure you believe that you are justified in your absurdity and the other side is not, but that doesn't make it so.

I would like to see Dobbs as the "immigration czar". Sheriff Joe could give Dobbs some pointers from time to time.

    Mojo -

I've been hearing recently that Fox has been looking at Greta Van Sustern's spot. Though also highly rated in her time slot, Fox thinks it can do better.

he could also end up over on the Fox Business channel opposite Greta.

The last time I heard dobbs opinion on immigration, I pretty much agreed with it. I stopped watching dobbs, because that seemed to become his only issue. To the point it was becoming absurd.

It wasn't his only issue. Is primary issue seemed to be about being an independent. Not buying into the corporate 2 party system that we have and voting your own mind.
