Please tell us what you think- I've been eyeing this too. I hate that they ask $59 bucks though!!!
How does it compare to previous CoD?

Spent much more time with the game now. The changes to Multiplayer from the last one are all excellent. Much more balance with the weapons, perks and kill streak bonuses. However a lot of the gametypes have xbox party chat disabled for whatever reason which means you cant just talk to your friends, you have to talk to everyone. Which sucks [IMG]

According to several reports, the party chat was purposefully disabled to prevent "cheating" by persons using party chat in multi-player mode instead of the normal communications everyone cah hear in multiplayer. Geez....

Just got the game. Been working on the campaign mode -- no multiplayer yet. Good game

I hear PC multiplayer was dumbed down to console level. True?

Yup, there is NO reason to even buy this game on PC. Everything that made the PC version better has been removed. It is a complete console clone.

Lostboy#2 and Losthubby went after school Tuesday to get it. Here is the lostboy's opinion of it:

The game is amazing. The graphics are sharp and the gameplay is very very good. There was only one problem, the party chat issue. Other than that it was amazing. I have not yet played the campaign only online play, and it is awsome.

Game is a pretty cool. Campaign mode is much better than previous. The levels are more difficult and the modernized weaponry kicks ***. The satellite predator drone is my fav.

I murdered an entire airport of innocents as I was trying to infiltrate a terrorist organization....crazy.

The multiplayer is pretty much the same but with upgrades. The levels are bigger and more complex. The weapons, perks, etc, are all upgrade with more options. As other poster mentioned the day I got it and got online there were already tards with rankings in the '30s. Some people need to get a life.

I am having a hard time getting the spec ops 2 player online to work though. That wasn't available on the last version so maybe there are some issues.

Great game. to me the mp has a much different feel that its predecessor and COD WaW. There are so many blingy noises and options and varieties. The campaign is so realistic it's scary. Felt uncomfortable during the airport level, so I ended up shooting luggage, which exploded when shot. Other than that, it's a super game.

I did the same in the airport -- exploding suitcases and shooting glass. I know it's a game, but it seemed uncomfortable to be shooting in the airport

Hornpharmd...glad I had already played the airport level when I came into this thread. Anyway, the discomfort they generate with that level is amazing. Hard to believe they could achieve that with a video game.

The reason there were people in the 30s right when people logged on the first night is that some stores sold the game ahead of time "under the counter" for cash only and with no receipt, mostly in the NE, I think. But it's not hard to level up quickly early on. I leveled up to 15 or 18 (can't remember which) in about 3 hours or so in the only night I've played.

The sngle-player campaign is pretty awesome, easily as good or better than COD4.

The incredible textures, shading, more detailed environments (better cover) and moving objects, fog, dust, etc make it more difficult to spot targets bioth near and far. This and the bigger and more complex maps make the price a bargain imho.

My only complaint is that I do think they went way overboard with the killstreak rewards. there are just too many. There are rewards for streaks of 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, & 25 kills. Seriously? WTF?

There's something constantly in the sky outside shooting at people.

It's umm like way hard for me. However im sure that most of it is not knowing the maps yet.

The usage of curved surfaces and more height makes the game great, it's not all right angles etc and there is much better and more varied cover.

I have a beast so I run it on a 30 inch monitor maxed and it's really visually stunning.

One negative there are so many call ins now that something is always dropping bombs, shooting, cannoning, minigunning or predator missiling you from above.

Also - for PC multiplayer it's not as cool - no dedicagted servers and you can't see what games are available etc

I'm in the process of trying to wean myself away from the game. I'm already a level 31 on mp (which isn't that hard to do) but the problem is I have a family and kids and I'm pretty sure that if I obsess with this game the way I have since last Tuesday, I'm going to be playing it by myself in a one bedroom apartment wondering why I the locks on my house have been changed.

I think I can put it away for a day...or maybe even two. once I pick it up, i'm in trouble. Also, I play after the fam goes to sleep, but man I'm losing serious sleep time!

The PC version is being universally crucified by everyone who wasn't paid to give it a good review. Metacritic Rating Disparity

I can't for the life of me understand why they chose to **** on the people who helped them build the franchise, but everything that I have read indicates that they did. Who knows...maybe the console sales will offset the lost PC gamers and IW will wind up with the last laugh.

I'm not sure they are too worried. Projections are that sales will exceed 14 million copies worldwide by year-end.

As you can see by my earlier post, I was one of the ones who didn't like all the killstreak airships, sentry guns, etc. I've found these are easily defeated with the stinger missile as a secondary weapon, and you can just walk up behind the sentry guns and melee them to take 'em out permanently. You can also disable them temporarily with flashbangs.

There are other things, though...Only 7 maps available in FFA, which I play almost exclusively...pretty fuckin annoying. Ridiculous. Almost all small run & gun crap.

Also, when this came out, people were talking about how this wasn't going to be a run & gun game, and maybe that's true in the team games. On the FFA maps it started out all run & gun, then calmed down after a couple days, and has steadily gotten faster paced ever since. The only FFA maps I can think of off the top of my head that aren't prettty much exclusively fast-paced are Estate and Afghan. Most of the FFA maps are STRICTLY run & gun to the extreme. It seems like most people don't like to play Estate in MW2, but to me, it's the only map in FFA that even remotely matches the pace of many of the old CoD4 maps and has any tactical feel at all. It's my favorite map. Of course, maybe that's also because I tend to kick ### on it more than any other map.

I just beat the campaign. The story is crazy, although it seems to end kinda weird to me. Almost as if the story wasn't really wrapped up. Wonder if they're leaving the door open for a 3rd installment.

Having gotten it as a gift, I got it for the PC. Skype takes care of the party talk issue, but it is still an overblown console. I love the fact that IW said that they didn't need dedicated servers because there wouldn't be a hacking issue, yet I played the other day and got shot blindly through a wall by another player across the board who at that point in the game was 96 and 2. No run and gunning? Explain that to the young twerps who inevitably invade servers for the sole purpose of glitching and running around to knife everyone in sight.

That said, I still play the HELL out of it. [IMG]
