I really like the Frogs. I really respect the Frogs. But all this talk, at least in DFW, about the Frogs being more worthy than the Horns has caused me to root for Utah this weekend. I can barely stomach it, but I guess I have no choice.

Everything I am hearing in DFW is opposite. I am even hearing arguments that they should play in the MNC if 2 of them lose, but not jump them if they go undefeated.

I like the Frogs and they deserve to go as far as the system will allow.

However I think the only way they get in is if we don't whip aggy butt beet red.

As a team makes the transition from "also ran" to the BCS elite, there has to be at least one year in which the team gets shafted by the system. If TCU is at the top again next year, they should be on a more equal footing.
Along this line of reasoning, there is no way that the BCS can "shaft" Texas again this year if we are undefeated.

this is the frogs "utah year". Just like Utah from last year, they could go unbeaten and beat a very good team.

The key for the frogs is to build from this year, no matter what happens. Even if they lose, and end up 12-1 or 11-2, they should raise their recruiting and put a dent into Tech, Ags, and Baylor. (don't laugh about the Baylor thing, look at Griffin, think the frogs have anybody near that good? I doubt it, + private school important to some parents)

After another year next year of success, even as bad as 10-3, the frogs should be the unquestioned #2 in Texas.

Assuming that actually happens, that is when we should schedule the frogs every year for about 6 years to see how well they hold up.

If they continue to be a solid #2 in Texas after that, schedule them forever, it's a great showcase of Texas high school talent.

I imagine that when Texas and TCU are on the field, there are 20+ of the 22 from Texas. And I would love to see all 20+ of those guiys be rated 3 stars or better.

Kind of reminds of the regional baseball tournament. Look at that frogs highly ranked in two of the three major sports!!

Not sure just being undefeated will do it.

Say we beat BU 35-17, Kansas 42-21, and aggy 30-22.

    It might get real interesting.

Wait. You think Baylor, Kansas, and aggy have a chance to score that many on our D?

No. it won't get real interesting.

The computers are going to pound the Toadies after this weekend.

They end with Wyoming and.. ugg. New Mexico.

After Utah played and beat New Mexico, their computer ranking fell from 13th.. to 20th.

    Much ado about nothing.

If TCU wins out in the regular season, they'll probably wind up in the Fiesta Bowl, a very good step for the Frogs.

TCU will not play for the championship this year unless Texas completely tanks. The future's bright up in Fort Worth, but it's one step at a time for the Frogs, and playing for the title this year is too big of a step.

By the way, I'd also like to see us schedule a series with TCU. It would help the sos of both teams and make for some interesting ooc games.

if texas wins out, they will be in the BCS championship.

writers are paid to create controversy. TCU is a good team, but they, at this point, do not deserve to be in the title game over the top three teams unless 2 teams lose.

it's just media hype and conversation in an otherwise boring college football season.

TCU lost a game they should have won last year in utah. That utah team beat the crap out of alabama. TCU has bee good for a couple of years and their team this year could compete and beat anyone in the country.

Something tells me they will be playing 'Bama and that 'Bama will remember last year's embarrassment from Utah. They will be ready, hyped and foaming at the mouth for a chance at redemption. I'm not sure TCU would be able to stick with them in their BCS game.

That being said, most people in DFW that I talk to don't think TCU would be able to hang with Texas. Many of them remember the game a couple years ago where they hung with us for a half and then got blistered in the second, most think this would happen again this year. However, they do want to see TCU win out and go to a BCS game; I wouldn't mind seeing that either since I'll have free tickets to the game [IMG]

^ All the more reason to play them home-and-home.

It'll literally be "home and home" because with their lack of fan support it'll be a home game for UT and then a home game for UT. [IMG]

Based on a common opponent, BYU at home, all we know is that TCU is at least on the level of FSU. After that who knows as they have played unknowns.

What is known in all probability is that they would not score more that 17 against Texas. While the TCU defense is good, I haven't seen them playing on the level that ou's did against Texas. After all is said and done this year's Texas team would beat TCU somewhere between 9 to 16 points.

TCU's problem is really Cincy. They are in a BCS conference and at the end of the day if both TCU and Cincy were undefeated, Cincy would get the MNC nod.

As for the champ game, TCU is a non-factor. They would need both Cincy and Texas to lose and maybe both Florida and Bama to lose (or one of them accumulate 2 losses).

Texas should play TCU in their OCC rotation. Just mandate the away game be played in the Jerrydome. TCU makes big bucks and can carrying 20% of their sports budget from that alone. We win 90% of the time and help Dallas area recruiting and make Dallas area alums happy. win-win.

99% recruits are not going to choose TCU over Texas, even if TCU becomes the elite non-BCS school (right now I would saw they are one of the elite with Boise, Utah & BYU). This is not a serious worry.

we need to put TCU on the schedule for the simple reason that we are better when we have a solid #2 team in our state. It keeps us sharp. This is the parallel to playing Ohio State in 2005, except that TCU could provide that razor sharpness every year. Is it coincidence that in '05 we played and beat a top ten team, and then were very sharp at the end of the year? I don't think so.

Right now, who is the second best team in the state? Tech? They're not nearly as good as they were last year.

They would dramatically improve our strength of schedule, so much that we could afford to lose a game and still be in a BCS game in most years.

Also, it helps TCU get recruits from other schools we play all of the time, such as Tech and Aggy.

The other thing, as someone pointed out, they don't sell out their stadium, when we go to play them in Fort Worth, we would have much better choice of seats to see a great game, we would probably make up 40% of the crowd.

Imo, if TCU finishes 12-1, their recruiting picks up at the expense of other universities mentioned above, and, don't forget OU. TCU could become a dominant recruiting force close to the Red River, and OU's tradition of taking so many Texas players could go way down.

F * the roaches. We owe them no favors, which playing them would be.
They have screwed athletes who transferred to UT by refusing to release them and costing them a year of eligibiity. They have tried to screw coaches who came to UT from ctu.
They have been and continue to be chicken * toward us at every opportunity.
Let them stew in their envy.
