  1. i'm in with the group that doesn't want him to leave.
but then again, just like Cougar, he's lost the edge and might want to get out with that fast fading legacy of his still intact....

Stoops' bowl record lately is an indication that he has just NOT had the kind of players to justify the lofty rankings they always got (OU was consistently getting over-ranked all the time, including last year). I would argue that OU did not deserve to be in some of those bowls and that is what caused Stoops' problems. There is nothing that Stoops does particularly badly at the bowls or anything! .. Again, just my view.

It's hard for me to imagine if given the opportunity to move away from Oklahoma..that you wouldn't take it. We are talking about Oklahoma! How could he not want to leave at some point? I have a lot of family in Oklahoma, and when I get home from visiting I always say an extra little prayer of thanks that I don't live there.

If OU plays Notre Dame in a Bowl Game this year, will both teams lose?

I'd be very surprised to see Stoops leave blOwU. The Goons won't let him slip out of their inner Okie circles. He's the best coach they've had since Switzer& his cheating dynasty... er hold that thought.

While I'm happy with the players Mack has landed over the past few years, Stoops is getting his share too. I don't know that ND has enough to offer Stoops leaving OU, or Meyer to leave UF. They probably think they can get whoever they want . . . and will try to get an established NCAA winning coach . . . but will probably have to settle for someone like Kelly (Cincinnati). I would sure hate to see what Kyle Peterson (Boise State) could do with all that ND talent.

Does anyone else here wish ND would rehire Lou Holtz again, just to get him off of ESPN? Or is that just me?

I am having a hard time reading this Stoops love fest, so allow me...

Bob Stoops is an unadulterated ********** of the highest order: he does not give two shits about throwing injured players to the wolves in a sad little effort to salvage his sinking reputation; he is a bloodthirsty bastard that throws bombs in the 4th quarter to humilate his opponents when up by 40+ points; he is a self-righteous prick who hates 'politcking' while engaging in it non-stop; he is a moral-less shithead who recruits players who threatens to stab 15 year old girls in the neck with a screwdriver and looks the other way if he thinks it can possibly help him get back on top; he is a cowardly douchebag that throws his players under the bus when the press dare ask him why his team fallen off the planet and why he can't win a big game to save his ***.

Stoops can eat a bag. He and OU fit hand in glove.

    Notre Dame can do better.

    I feel, better.

Wesser is correct. Well said. What you should add is that he is a very good coach and there are a lot of other coaches who do the same. Mack legitimately is an exception.

I actually hope he leaves and think he will strongly consider it if offered. He is getting a lot of heat in Norman and he does not take heat well.

Yes, OU is getting some good recruits, but the average star rating is substantially below what they received earlier in the decade and below what Texas is getting and that is even if they sign the 3 five-star players they are in on. With their crappy year this year, I think the odds are Texas will get a couple of five-star and OU only one.

They also will not be much better next year. They lose their best players on offense and defense; we lose our two best on offense and return 9/11's of our starting defense.

The reason I want him to leave is that he is a damn good coach and I would rather OU only have a mediocre coach. He is on the way down for a number of reasons, but he is the wounded boxer who can still throw a major punch as in last year.

We can take the supposed high ground about how we want to play the toughest schedule and have all the best coaches on rival teams in our conferences. That is just silly. I would much rather be like USC was earlier in the decade, win all or almost all our games (and yes have people ***** about our schedule) and then laugh all the way to the MNC game every other year.

OU is in an less than enviable position on the recruiting long term. This is not the cheating years of 1950-1985. The Internet, cell phones, and all the media scrutiny make that much harder nowadays. I do think despite Big Red, Stoops is a much cleaner coach than Switzer, but probably more because it is harder to get away with things. Yes, OU will get a few from the DFW area and therefore are in better position to stay strong compared to Nebraska. However, OU in the future will only stay strong with an excellent coach which we and they have found is not as easy as it seems.

Lastly, Stoops knows that Mack has a great defensive coach (it takes one to know one). Our linebacker play has for the first time been excellent and it looks very much like the attacking defenses of OU earlier in the decade. Beating Texas is going to be harder and harder, and as someone else mentioned, Stoops can still get out with a high reputation now, not so much in three years.

Hell, we still might play Stoops almost every year if he goes to ND, it will just be the last game of the year.

Stoops leaving OU will help A&M.

One can draw a direct correlation between A&M's slide and OU's rise based on recruiting successes(or lack thereof) in DFW.

Im not saying A&M is going to start winning the B12 or stopping teams on defense, but all the Johnny 5*'s/4*'s that would have gone to OU arent going to matriculate to the Horns.

It's worth Stoops' consideration. The healing presence of Touchdown Jesus might help him get away with fielding his injured.

If Stoops leaves, OU will not gamble on it's hire. They will hire someone like Harbaugh or Kelly, and that would freaking suck. I want Stoops to stay long enough to ride that mule into the red, stolen dirt where it belongs.

it is so funny watching some of predict the future of the OU program with such certainty.

we have one ****** year, and our recruiting is dying...... LOOK AT ALL THE THREE STARS!! in case you haven't noticed, we will still have a top ten class. currently, it is still a top 5 class.

stoops has been at OU for ten years. we put a strong to very strong team on the field every year except one (2005).... a year, that was only bad by OUR standards btw. and you shouldn't mention this year because you had a hell of a team putting this team of scrubs away at the cotton bowl this year.

there is no efffing way stoops takes the ND job this year. maybe at some point in the distant future... or maybe even sooner.... but it won't be this year. he is at a top 5 all time program now, that is winning now, that needs no rebuilding now, where he is a king.... now.

Wesser, I think you said it pretty well.

The scumbag is a decent coach of football though, and does have skins on the wall. I hope he goes to ND. A perfect match, I think.

They could have a hypocricy love fest.
