The Link Colt & Sergio being 1st rounders would be allsome. The Longhorns should have quite a few of our Sr's picked up on draft day. Shipley Muckelroy Houston Hall Ulatoski Anyone I'm over looking?
as a follow-up question: are any of our underclassmen thought to be risks to leave early? For example, I don't know how rs sophmore Earl Thomas projects in the NFL.
Kiper can't make up his mind. A couple of weeks ago, he said Colt had dropped to a 2nd round guy. Apparently Colt's play the last few weeks has changed that (or perhaps he's realized completing 72% of your passes instead of 76% does not diminish your stature as a QB).
Isn't most of this class the kids that signed right after the National Championship? Which seniors came in before then? Colt, Shipley...
Earl Thomas seems like he needs to bulk up a little more to be projected higher, at least imo. same thing with Muck. They both have massive talent, but you know with NFL and prototypical size concerns. Shipley will be a good 2nd or 3rd round pickup. The combine couldl tell a lot about Colt and if he still projects 1st round or not. He gets a boost in completion % from Davis' offense. I'm curious how well he delivers accurately in the routes they run in NFL style offenses. Kindle will be a beast, but he may take a hit if they ask him to play in pass coverage as a LB.
Say what you want about Colt's %, but there are a ton of dink and dunk offenses out there with QBs not completing the same percentage. Not to mention the legs factor.
Colt's passing accuracy is nothing short of astonishing. Whatever team drafts him and gets him to training camp will be delighted to find him much better as a leader and athlete than advertised.
Earl Thomas is the only underclassman we have to be worried about, but it seems even those chances are slim. The NFL doesn't typically project 5'10", 197 lb safeties to go very high.
Bayerithe - Troy Polamalu is 5'10 207. Bob Sanders is 5'8 206. Those are great safeties in the NFL. Earl Thomas is 5'10 197 and he is only a sophomore. There is nothing wrong with Thomas' size. He is going to be a 1st rounder for sure.
Because just like Walker, Ed McCafftry, Wanye Crebits, and Steve Larget, he'll run good routes, play smart, have good hands, a real coach on the field.
Because of the uncertain NFL labor status, the possibility of a lockout and/or rookie caps, I am afraid some younger guys may get some advice to leave early and we might lose more than usual. Whether it is true or not, some of the "experts" are saying that a 3rd rounder this year may be better off than a 1st rounder next year.
Maybe Colt goes in the second round to someone and Ship goes in the third round to the same team and they can keep rooming together
From the comments jmcekroy (11/21/2009 at 2:02 AM) I don't understand why McCoy receives so much credit. He has one of the best O-lines and best receivers in College Football every year since hes been a starter. If the O-line is good then the QB is good. I have watched alot of games since hes been a starter and he never does good when he gets hit alot or if hes pressured. Thats why he has a 1-2 record against A&M (which has a horrible D-fense), because they hit him hard and he starts throwing picks. I would like to see him play QB for Baylor and see how good he does, everyone would say Colt Who? He would avg 2-3 INT's a game. And I would like to see how Iowa St, Kans St, Kans, and A&Ms QB's would do if they got to operate with McCoys O-line and receivers! I'm not saying hes a bad QB (hes just avg), I'm just saying that his O-line deserves the HYPE and CREDIT. Not Him!
