"Consider: In his three games against top-40 pass defenses this season (Colorado, Oklahoma and Nebraska), McCoy has thrown for an average of 192 yards, with no touchdowns and five interceptions." We've struggled for sure, but I guess it helps his argument when he can just lie about stats...
Mandel is a putz. Even while reminding himself of the Miami-Ohio State "mismatch of the century" he dives right in and does it again. Relax. Your team will be so pissed off by kick off the Elephants won't stand a chance.
It is good for us to be considered underdogs and longshots (see our history). It is good to be number 2 going against number 1 (see history of that match up in bowls.) Can't wait for Pasadena! Hook'em
Exactly what I like to hear!!! Hook em baby. Anyone hear Saban calling for no analogies to a "David and Goliath" match-up?
Unlike in 2005 when we were all pissed at talk like this, we all seem to thoroughly enjoy this. It will be so sweet to see crows becoming an endangered species a month from now! Actually it is worse than in 2005. Then nobody said Texas as bad or anything; they were only saying USC was the greatest since the Roman army. This time they are all dissing us like never before. So much motivation for our team. This will be so much fun. Poor elephants. It is not their fault that some people make the horns mad and totally ready to stomp mudholes. Let us enjoy the ride. Come on media, bring it on for us to enjoy! R.J.
Brian Kelly, coach of Cincinnati, absolutely needs to be the coach at Notre Dame. The guy proved to be an *** wipe for taking a swipe at his own kicker during the halftime interview of the Pitt game and now takes a swipe at the Nebraska kicker in this article. Yeah, Brian, I want my son to play for you.
Alas..the game is played on the field..and no Stewie ..you will never be welcomed again..but thanks for the locker room material..anything and everything helps when you are playing the second best team of all time and a running back that is better than the like of Peterson, Bush, and Lendale.
He makes several good points, regardless if you like it or not. Our dink-dunk offense with lack of a run game will be rough with their defense. Ingram will be hard to stop.
Dudes - Love these articles to the point of almost being thankful for them. There is no better gift that could be given to the Texas team as they prepare for this game.
In spite of popular, national opinion, I think we should go ahead and show up and play the game and see what happens.
Have you noticed in the last couple of seasons that the we have a bad game running the ball and we come out the next game and run for 150-200? Like OU in 2008 and 2009?
I think his obsevations are spot on. He bases as thoughts on the last games played and admittedly leaves out other games that show Alabama's weaknesses. If he did not acknowledge doing so, I would be miffed. While I do not agree with his description of the game, I cannot fault his observations.
I can't disagree with a single thing Mandel wrote in the article. And, Mandel has several times said great things about our program. Just last week he wrote in an article that Texas was the only team in the last decade to not have a season with at least five losses. No one called him a douche any of those other times. He is also the guy that wrote the article about wanting to know which planet aggies come from. It is a non-biased, objective article that just says some folks might consider it a mis-match. Take off the orange glasses, people. Next time he writes a supportive article about our program, you will all be calling him wise and omnicient.
Apparently Mandel isn't the only douche bag. Here's another one: Dennis Dodd Article Lets prove these guys wrong !!!!!
...first of all mandies facts are wrong...as I remember Colt threw a touchdown pass to Shipley right before the half against colorado ...and threw for one against ou sux to the Marquis receiver .....
i don't think any of these writers are douche bags. I see no point in calling out writers who write negative yet fair things about Texas. A lot of people doubt this team's abilitity at the moment. There were a few articles last week which questioned Texas' resume. People on here protested and whined, predicted scores against Nebraska like 38-7. Well, i saw nothing in the game Saturday which would refute any of those articles. I think we have an excellent chance to win in January. I am happy we have the opportunity. Do i think it is a mismatch? No. But i understand why the writers are writing it. I hope Texas proves them all wrong. But it could turn out they are right. Hook 'em.
We have no realistic shot at defeating the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide, champions of by far the best conference in all of America. We are lucky just to be able to show up at the big game, and must enjoy just being there. Everyone practice these words, and repeat three times daily until January 6. Worked well in 2005/6.
Having read the entire article, I agree (with Texclerk, smwhorn, and YouLaDu) that Mandel's main points are valid. Texas won narrow victories against the two teams on its schedule (so far this year) having first-rate defenses... Oklahoma and Nebraska. Alabama dominated its game (in all 3 phases) against #1-ranked Florida; while Texas eked out a win against a much weaker NU team which had a zero-dimensional offense. Looking at both championship games, it's not too difficult to see why people have a lot of questions about Texas. Hopefully our coaches and players will use these doubts as motivation/fuel to prepare for Pasadena.
