If we weren't playing Bama for the title, which team would you LEAST like to see us going against, i.e., who would we likely not match up well against. I think Florida would be tough. Lots of speed on defense, and enough offensive playmakers to grind out a win. TCU would be tough as well, that's a very complete team but I think we have better athletes that would prevail in the 4th quarter. I haven't paid much attention to Cincy. Oregon has looked impressive but I don't think they could run with the Horns for long.
Oregon is good and played the 5th toughest schedule in the country. They are battle hardened. I'd want to stay away from them.
I agree, I wouldnt want to play oregon. I think the pac 10 is by far the best conf in the country this year. i prediuct they have an excellent bowl record this year.
We would score a lot of points on that Oregon defense. Same with Cincy. the toughest opponant other than Bama would be either TCU or the Gators. Of those three the one I most wanted to play before Saturday ironically enough was Bama because I thought we matched up best against them.
i would want no part of Oregon or Boise St. TCU and Florida.. i would be mildly concerned, but confident. GT, OSU, Iowa and especially Cincy wouldn't scare me at all.
Lion Tamer! That's for me. Lions, hah! Silly-looking creatures, with their great long noses, snuffling up ants. Huh! I'm not afraid of that! Just give me the chair and the whip, and bring on your silly lions!
I would be afraid to plaly Cincy. The football gods are looking out for them. They have been able to turn crap into chocolate cake.
Prolly Cinci - don't know much about them, but they seem well coached and are winning. Boise might also be a dangerous team to play.
I never like playing teams that put you in a no-win situation, so I'd rather not play any of the non-BCS conference teams. They will always play with nothing to lose, and no one will be overly impressed if we beat them.
Boise State definitely. High powered offense and have rolled over opponents, even though they are in the WAC, still impressive
I would love to play Nebraska again. I don't think they could improve on their performance, I think we could. Next year will be fun.
Texas should desire a route around any team that has a good D. When the Horns play good Ds they look very pedestrian on O. I don't know if Texas needs to worry teams with offensive talent because they haven't played one yet. Maybe the D is as good as it seems. Well, I guess A&M played like they have a talented O. That engenders confidence.
FLORIDA. I think Bama is just as good, maybe a tad better. (Those teams are not as far apart as the game indicated, it was Bama on their "on" day and UF on their "off" day and reeling physically and emotionally from their best DL being suspended) I think it is pretty clear Bama, Florida & Texas are the most talented and best teams in the land. Bama has been the most consistent and the most quality wins, but they had their near escapes too. But I like the match-up with Bama better than UF honestly. Tebow can make plays out of nothing--what I think you often need when facing a great defense that is focused. I don't see Bama's offense matching up with our defense well at all. (Not that I have huge confidence in out offense versus their defense either) Before someones says, what about TCU? I'll just say they it is possible they are in the same league but it is more probable they are not. They really only have 3 legitimate victories (top 50 type opposition) and their marque win was over a BYU team that gave up half a hundred to FSU at home. TCU just hasn't faced the kinds of teams and D1 athletes those others face more often than not. By my count Bama has beaten 9 top 50 teams, and 3 (VT/UF/LSU) with the kinds of athletes and teams TCU hasn't seen since last year (when they got handled by OU BTW). By my count Texas and Florida have beaten 7 top 50 teams as well. And would BYU or Utah or Clemson be favored over LSU, Okie State, Nebraska, or heck even OU, Tennessee, Arky, Tech or Georgia--I kind of doubt it. TCU might be able tobeat a Bama/Texas/UF on a great day/bad day--sure-- but I have serious doubts they would have much of chance to be 13-0 in the SEC or Big 12 (and def not the Pac 10 and probably not the ACC or Big 10, maybe the Big East but even their the comp is a lot better than the MWC). TCU really only had to prepare for 3 decent teams, and I think none of them were really, really, good teams (top 20 in play or talent). The physicality and speed is another level at Bama, Texas & Florida. Another team that I think will be tougher than thought of is Ohio State (and I almost never say something positive about them). They have been playing good ball the last 5 games, once their QB stopped turning the ball over. I think Oregon is in for a surprise. And I think Ohio State would beat TCU more often than not.
I'm glad it's Alabama, though. I think they have proven to be the best team in the country at this point and I want us to be the undisputed #1 after we roll the tide.
