Moved to Denver last year and was able to enjoy watching the 'Horns on free TV probably 9-10 of the 13 games last year. ESPN GamePlan was virtually no use, but Fox tended to make UT their national game of the week when they weren't on ABC's national/regional coverage. The few games I missed on TV I could catch via Yahoo! Sports online for $6/mo.

I very much miss KVET's 3-hour pre-game show and took for granted the Longhorn radio network.

I got pretty excited when I heard that XM Satellite came out with a iPhone app, and was ready to take the plunge there. However, $15-$20 per month (don't know what up-front costs or length of contract I have to sign) is too steep to get those 3-4 games.

I think I'm going back to Yahoo! Sports (now they are charging $10 per month), but I hate being tied to my computer w/o video. To get around that I think I'm going to install an audio recorder to rip the audio stream from Yahoo! then transfer to my iPhone as an .acc file.

Anyone have any other ideas to replicate the Longhorn Radio Network?

Look at the stations on the Longhorn Radio Network- WOAI from San Antonio was one for example. Many of these stations do broadcast the games via their website.

I live in NY- at times I've had the radio audio with the tv on mute.

I don't own a Slingbox anymore (it was trashed in a tragic moving accident and I haven't replaced it), but if you know anyone back home who has one it would be easy to set up. When I had mine I sent a guest login to a couple of guys in Iraq so they could watch Texans games from my DVR over there. There's no monthly fee, you'd just have to buy the mobile Sling app for iTunes/iPhone ($30) and get your buddy to make sure everything was set up right on his end, all he has to do is connect an RCA cable from his radio/tuner to the Slingbox and you're in business...

Thanks for the suggestions. Didn't think DeLoss would let radio stations stream the audio over the Internet, but obviously proof's in the pudding.

They canceled my yahoo sports account this year, and when I tried to contact them about it they told me they were not doing that anymore....

I think you will find you use XM a ton more than expected. It will be well worth it and you will be glad you did. You will find that in a car without it you really notice it. You can hook up to home stereo with same unit as your car.

I cannot see myself ever cancelling my subscription. Give it a try.

Same here .... when KVET was apparently not "permitted" to broadcast (or chose not to) - WOAI was the solution (like KILT was for preseason Houston Texans games).

Especially going to be doing this for Game 1 - refuse to pay $40 (an increase of 33+% over last year - will not pay the greedy ********).

    Hook 'em!

If you'd like to watch the Louisiana-Monroe game for free in Denver on Saturday, Governor's Park Restaurant & Bar (central/ dowtown/ capitol hill area of denver) is showing the Louisiana-Monroe game at no charge. Great happy hour too, even on Saturday!

1300 The Zone is not allowed to stream Longhorn sports broadcasts, and the stations in the Longhorn Sports Network aren't allowed to either, because UT had sold their streaming rights to Yahoo.

Any station that is streaming it is doing so illegally.

Now, however, Texassports.tv is the way to go I think. It replaced Yahoo.

If you have an IPhone you can get the iheart radio application and listen to either WOAI or KVET am/fm anywhere in the world. If UT is blocking the game from KVET you can listen to it on WOAI. The audio is great and the best thing... the application is FREE.

Again, I appreciate the feedback. I got excited with I saw the IHeartRadio for the iPhone thread, but Apple/AT&T don't want none of that on their clogged Edge/3G/oops, back to Edge network. I'll still add that app to my phone, but all that means is instead of the computer blaring the (pre)game, I'll be walking around the house with my iPhone strapped on to my forearm. Not quiet the radio-like experience, but we're getting closer.

Only with XM...signal is about 15 second late due to the technology. The iheart app on Iphone doesn't work because they block the network during the game. You hear everything up to the coin toss and comes back for the locker room interviews.
WOAI signal at night can be heard in different parts of the country...its AM 1200.

Here is the problem with XM:

They do not give Craigs call for any championship game. This means the season of Craig Way for XM is over. Which sucks, because we like to line up the radio with the TV and just listen to the Texas call... So the 15 second delay is actually perfect.

So.. XM needs to get that fixed. Let us listen to Craig for the NCG!!!

For most of these championship games, XM will carry an "away" (visitors) feed, a home feed and a national feed. We listened to the KVET home feed postgame on the way home from the Big XII Championship game last week.

They had the same thing for the SEC Championship game on XM....away, home and national. Some guy and Terry Donahue were doing the national feed.

I have the iHeart radio application and KVET via the app does not have the games. I have not checked WOAI yet.
