Don't do any heckling of North Carloina players Sat. at the game it was reported on rivals.com that Roy Williams had a heckler removed from the Dean Dome because he was heckling one of his players when he was attempting a free throw. It was reported that the heckler called the players name and said (go ahead and miss the free throw) the player turned and looked in the stands and then Roy W. motioned for a security guard to remove the heckler.
Link to story The Link What's particularly amusing about this are the circumstances. Thompson is an 80% ft shooter. UNC was beating Presbyterian by more than 40 with under 7 minutes to go. That makes me wonder if maybe something else was going on.
He might be able to get away with that in the Dean Dome, but he's fighting an uphill battle trying to remove vocal opposing fans away from there. In fact, he's probably just given the rest of his road schedule an idea for how to get him rattled. I got to think the fan was yelling things worse than "hey miss a FT".
As I've posted elsewhere, he seemed to be ticked off at the idea that someone in the section where UNC friends and family sit would openly root against UNC. It seems that a former UNC JV player gave the guy a ticket. On that basis, I can understand why RW was miffed, but he still made a fool of himself.
Too bad it's essentially impossible to coordinate our whole fanbase at home on FTs attempts much less in Dallas, because it would be great to have the whole arena go silent for a second and then have one guy shout "MISS IT DEON" no matter who was actually shooting the free throw.
And some people wonder why I call him "Whiny Roy". I guess he left KU because he had to play at Okie Lite once every 2 years. The fans there tend to be a, uh, little partisan.
