y'all are nuts to wait. No way we're selling our tickets, we're taking the entire family and heading to LA from Colorado on the 6th.

we purchased 18 tickets for clients this week as our ticket expert said this is the low point for the reasons I mentioned. Do what you will, but there will be ZERO authentic tickets for sale @ the Rose Bowl and prices will start increasing middle of next week.

I would suspect that next since it's at the "Fiesta Bowl" there will be fewer tickets. That stadium holds a lot less than the Rose Bowl.

We're holding out 'til next week before to pull the trigger on tix, want to see if prices drop some.

Somebody made a really good post about how their version of the Foundation doles out tickets. It is different than ours and rewards for other things and not just dollar amount for football. This could explain the difference in fulfillment and broken hearts.

Just buy all the tickets and ensure we have the most fans in the Rose Bowl on game night. [IMG]

Whether Bama fans have as much money or not is irrelevant. They will skip mortgage payments to see the Tide play for the MNC. They are hardcore like you can't even imagine. $$$ will not be a factor to keep them from showing up in HUGE numbers.

I imagine when a scalper has taken his last breath there is a special place that he or she will go where all they have in their pocket is enough for a face value ticket to heaven. Meanwhile all around them there are hundreds of people selling tickets for 5 or 6 times face value.

The "Bama fans en masse" theory isn't playing out on ebay right now. Auctions for tickets on the Bama side are consistently selling around $100 less than the Texas side, and there's a whole lot more Bama tickets headed to the market when they mail them out in a couple of days.

I would expect that selling pressure to bring down Texas side prices a little too, maybe to $700 or so. This isn't USC folks.

For the last several days, the 3 ticket service guys I've been checking (StubHub, TicketLiquidator, and Ticket City) have all had only two to five sellers asking under $800. Tonight, two of those services had 18 under $800, and the third had over 30.
I'm not necessarily going to buy from one of those guys, but it's an easy place to check the "temperature" of the tickets, and the temperature seems to have dropped this evening.

In 05 in three hours of walking the ground at the Rose Bowl, I did not see one person offering to sell tickets. Not that it means anything but it was the only time I have attended a major sporting event where I did not see that.
You may have better luck giving a $100 handshake at the gate. In fact, I saw a guy selling cokes who made about $1,000 in fifteen min letting people walk in with his arm band and then passing it back through the gate.

Regardless of current ticket prices and how wealthy Alabama Alums are, Alabama last played in (and won) a National Championship was in 1992! That alone tells me that the Tide will roll to L.A.!! 17 years is a long time for that kind of program... [IMG]

This is what I'm seeing now.

End zone seats are going from $650 - $800 depending on location. Anyone spending over $800 on an end zone seat is doing the seller a huge favor.

Goal line through the 20's are going from $800 - $1100. You should not pay over $1000 IMO unless you are inside the 20's (Sec 3-6 or 17-20).

Inside the 20's are $1200 and up. Four in Sec 20L Row 40's went on ebay for $4800 yesterday. Those were about 35yl. If you pay $1200 you should be in incredible seats.

There is no comparison between where the ticket market is right now and where it was 4 years ago. It may continue to go down some, but it has already dropped significantly (15-20%) since this thread began. I don't see it going through the roof or coming anything close to what happened in 2006. There is little risk IMO in watching it a few more days while cherry picking.

I personally want to get in Sec 2 or 7 Rows 20-60 for under $1000 per ticket, and I have zero doubt at this point that it will happen. [IMG]

While you're all waiting for prices to go down, the brokers are just sitting on inventory. They're not desperate enough to sell any lower than the current prices. The market has bottomed out, I assure you. There is a massive shortage of tickets due to the corporate interests this year and this game is big enough to keep the prices very steady, and high. $650 EZ is the best you are going to get. Every auction on ebay right now is at $700 and up, with multiple bids and time left .

Go ahead and wait...that's exactly what the brokers are betting on...everyone is going to run up to buy after Jan. 1 and the hype will have set in. Then the brokers will raise prices and sell out.

Just don't buy from any broker like Barry's Tickets or StubHub or RazorGator.

Let them sit on their tickets all they want in an attempt to extort you the last week before the game.

I'm not saying to not buy now.

I'm just saying: Do NOT reinforce brokers' outrageous up-charges and fees.

Buy from some other source such as Craigslist or eBay. Just use some common sense and qualify the seller before you buy.

If you buy on eBay, make sure it is from a 100% positive feedback seller and someone who has a history on eBay of at least a couple of years. Make sure they show (or send) you an exact image of the tickets before you bid. Pay through PayPal and with a credit card, not through your bank account.

For Craigslist, verify their phone number and residence address before meeting them. Take another person with you for the exchange. Do the exchange at their residence (legitimate sellers won't have a problem with that). Look on the front of the tickets for the "Citi BCS Pasadena 2010" hologram. Look the seller up on whitepages.com to verify their address and phone number before meeting them.

Just buy from individuals who have no connection to ticket brokers. You'll pay less and you won't be feeding the outrageous fees machine.

Just got my ticket for $579 on eBay Sect 26 Row 20. Don't believe the $650 figure. The $550 to $600 tickets are out there if you take the time to explore on eBay or Craigslist.

Funny to read through now. The market was well played by Tide and Horn fans alike.

It actually dropped much further than I thought it would and never got the late bounce from desperate buyers. There should be a flood of tickets in Cali.

$400 on stubhub now to get 2+ together. Wow. You might see $200 in Pasadena. I think we all knew the USC game was the perfect storm for a lot of reasons. Bowl games are historically not tough tickets and this again proves that to be the case.
