I hope Leach doesn't settle with Tech before Meyers' deposition, I can't wait to hear him explain how he felt it was appropriate to hire Bob Knight with his history of player abuse and insubordination, but Leach had to go after apparently only one such incident.

Leach is an arrogant prick with a good offensive mind. He was in people's faces all the time out there. Jeez, Bobby Knight got along with them, but Leach couldn't?

Leach jumped after every job opening that came up for a couple of years. Nobody would hire him. Now why do figure that was?

Who in their right mind sues their employer?

Any of you guys defending him want to sue your employer because he disciplined you?

We will now see how "big time" sand aggy is. Big time programs hire successful head coaches. Pretenders hire assistants.

First, I am no fan of Leach. I think he is an ***, and probable deserved to get fired.
BUT, Tech looks like a friking joke today. And Leach will get paid.

If TTU had come out and just said "We're firing Leach for irreconcilable differences, and we think we can do better" and given him his golden parachute, that would have been fine.
But they can't afford to do that so that had to trump up this player abuse incident to try to find cause and cheese out of paying the guy.
Total bush league move by a bush league school. Their cause is especially wobbly considering they gave him the contract extension less than one year ago. That was their first mis-step in a series of dumbass moves.
Also, The university would have swept this "abuse" incident under the rug if Leach would have just apologized. How serious do you really think they consider player abuse if a "Sorry" was all it would have taken to make it all go away.

Stanhin - I can see where your coming from, but its all semantics.

TTU lawyers will say he got fired for insubordination.
ML lawyers will say he got fired over (rightly) not apologizing for trumped up abuse allegations.

TTU's case is wobbly, at best, and they have made some mis-steps.

editL You can also bet thast it will become Mike Leache's life's work to take Geralnd Myers and TTU down with him. That's just the kind of guy he is. (and as a UT fan, this makes me giggle -Teeheee)

I will be fun to watch, no matter what happens.

    1) When your employer suspends you, it's kind of like getting put on a 90 day improvement plan at a normal job. It means said employer is not happy with your work. Turning around and suing them guarantees you will get fired.

    2) Leach was surprised he was fired. That shows how stupid he is. I can't imagine what he was thinking, but it's typical with arrogant people. They never think someone might not be happy with their work when in fact it's been going on for a long time.

    3) Leach forced Meyer's hand. When he sued, he basically said I have more power then the boss. I'm more important. To save face, Meyer had to fire him. Again this just proves how dumb Leach really is with regards to interpersonal skills.

He could have apologized, taken the suspension, and coached at Tech another 10 years. Now I doubt he coaches again. No one wants to hire a lawyer/coach that's first instinct is to hire another lawyer.

Maybe I mis-read your post. It sure comes off like you were calling me an idiot for having the temerity to 2nd guess your opinion.

FWIW- I don't think its beyond the pale that ML could read the writing on the wall, knew he was getting fired anyway, so what the hell why not sue? Maybe he thought he'd win the battle for public opinion and come up smelling rosey anyway. He still surely has his fans in Lubbock. Not a stretch.

So someone explain this to me...Leach is stupid for filing TRO when he already has a pretty good idea Tech is trying to fire him AND he has 800,000 reasons to file the TRO?

Is it true that TT was supposed to give 10 days notice prior to suspension becoming active.

There is way too much emotion and probably rivalry hating going on in this thread.

Why would he sue? If you had a $13 million dollar contract with someone and thought the breached the contract you would be an idiot not to sue IMO.

    Hahahahahahaaaaa!!!

I have a nasty feeling that I will be defending TTU in this lawsuit. If not me, then one of my colleagues.

I can't wait to take Mike Leach's deposition. It will take every fiber in my being to not assume a pirate's brouge when I ask him, "ARRR, matey. Ye whoreson bilge rat. When you sent the lad to the brig for insubordination, was it ferr keelhauling purposes? Did you say to the jailskeeps 'Avast, me hearties, keeps him warm, eh, afore I send him to Davey Jones' Locker'? Did yer thinks the Texas Tech holds be burstin' with swag? Shall ye be shiverin' your timber up Gerald Meyer's poop deck? Methinks, t’was booty that killed the Beast."

Gerald Myers represents Leach's emplyers, who are the alumni and boosters. They love Leach, and the probably don't much care for Myers right now. If not, they will when Tech hires a mid-tier coach and gets waxed 4-5x per season and gets to the Holiday Bowl in the best year.

Leach is probably not in a good position to land an HC job again, but he would make an epic OC. If he does this, does it well, and keeps his nose clean, he will get an HC job that is much better than Tech. Myers will be gone in 3 years.

I don't want to say my client, TTU, screwed up, but ML did the right thing in filing the TRO, which will lead to the breach of contract lawsuit in the long run.

A $13 million breach of contract lawsuit gets anyone's attention. Hopefully, ML keeps that lame-*** attorney in the lawsuit.

I will FUCKSTOMP a MUDHOLE in his ***, and walk it dry.

That is if we don't settle beforehand, which is what ALWAYS happens in cases like this.

Tactically, it was a good strategy. You always want to be the first to the courthouse.

If Leach does get his damages, $13 million would be enough not to care about coaching again, at least for normal people.

However, I can't see Mike Leach not coaching. It would drive him crazy.

Money isn't everything. Doing something you love is worth a lot more than money. However, doing something you love, plus making a shitload of money, is the ideal situation anybody would want to be in.

As had been posted on here numerous times, Leach will end up coaching somewhere, even if he is not making as much as he was at Tech.

    Mark it down.

king, how much do you think Leach would settle for? Or would he want to have his day in court, and get the full $13m?
