I think we're ok at safety. It might sway Dixon back this way, but I wouldn't count on it... people don't decommit from Texas and then get another look. It's corner I'm more worried about. Has been the main problem in the defensive backfield since Ced, Tarell, and Aaron left.
Dixon is solid to Baylor. He is real close to the defensive coordinator there Brian Norwood. He and Norwood's son are best friends. UT will still have: C Scott, Brewster, Gideon, Vacarro at safety
Dixon isn't an option anymore. He was told when he de-committed that he wouldn't be able to come back.
Earl Thomas's draft location is not enough to leave two years early. Will not have to worry about it at all.
Please, Mack...as with Marcus Davis, it is a virtue to forgive and give people a second chance. Recruits, and their parents too, do appreciate coaches and programs not giving up on kids. Why not give Dixon a second chance to join the Good Guys if he is still so inclined? Losing Marcus, we sure could use a DB of his pedigree.
Earl will leave if he gets a first round draft grade. I heard this from someone as close as you can get to Earl. Of course, Earl has said as much himself. The question is, will he get it? The answer is YES. Earl Thomas will be a first round draft pick and most likely in the Top 15. If I am right, then Earl needs to go and I will wish him the best.
Here's my hoped-for scenario: Earl has a tremendous MNC game and we win. By virtue of his performance, he gets a top 15 grade, comes out, gets millions of dollars, moves his family out of Orange, and kicks *** in the pros. Somewhere in the middle of that, Heidi Klum knocks on my door and tells me she's gotten tired of Seal's ****, and asks - politely and demurely - if she could vacuum my floor while naked. Because my floor is kind of dirty right now and really, nothing bores me more than vacuuming.
Moves his family out of Orange? What is the problem with Orange? Also my floor could use a nice cleaning too.
Well, with no disrespect intended towards the city ... I don't think there's a lot of people who live in the Golden Triangle who wouldn't be pleased at the opportunity to not live in the Golden Triangle. It's a harsh place, even without getting hammered by hurricanes on a semi-annual basis. I'll send HK over when she's done here. But only after she cleans my tub*, if you know what I mean. (* Not a euphemism. It's pretty grody too.)
Dixon has already tried to come back and was told no. Mack doesn't deal with players who are involved with street agents. Dixon is involved with Will Lyles.
Is he going to grow taller between now and next season? Seriously, he is just a little shorter than Eric Berry and Ed Reed and about the same weight. I wish he would stay, but I bet he gets a first round grade from the NFL group that does that for prospective early entrants.
I'd hate for him to leave because I love Horn success, but he should consider going now while his stock is high. It'll get tougher for DBs the next couple of years.
He is 5'9" at best and is only roster listed at 5'10" and we know how those are off a few inches. He is much shorter than Ed Reed or Eric Berry. Get real, some guys are just taking the so called Draft gurus are little too seriously.
First, he's great college safety. Second, the only way he is a 1st rounder this year is if he gets 2 picks, 5 pbu's, 12 tackles, causing at least one fumble that he piks up and runs in, knocks both bama rb's out of the game, is named game mvp, and gets bigger. I hope he does all of it and God speed...
You'd be surprised. It's a thin year for safeties. He's not going to get drafted as high as Berry, but he's got the numbers and the speed to qualify as a 5th DB in the NFL, which is valuable because of injuries and what not. He doesn't have to be friggin Ed Reed. No one is Ed Reed. He just has to be better than other DB options, and this year he is. And with the impending salary doom for rookies next year, he should choose wisely.
If Texas wins he is definitely gone, even if Texas loses it sounds like he is probably gone. Like Jermichael this is one we probably wish we hadnt red shirted b/c it really hurts losing someone who only played two years.
does this mean extra scholarship? Do we need anything else different? Is there a 4 or 5 star kicker we should look for?
i believe texas had already moved on from dixon, so not sure what that means for your scholly situation. me thinks dixon had grade problem and SEC schools were a bit more admissions friendly to him. same thing with craig loston last year.
