Speaks to the kind of program they are ... they and Florida, putting up statues and plaques for something that someone accomplishes every single year (in Saban's case) and at least once a day (in Tebow's case). I get putting up statues for great coaches and great players; we have some of our own. But they didn't go up a whole 5 minutes after Darrell Royal won a national title or Earl Campbell won the Heisman. This SEC "I can't believe how great we are" BS is crossing the border into insanity.
true. the NFL is about the only thing i can see happening. did he have complete control in miami? i can see him jumping at a deal like carroll got.
Will it be crooked in stature? IMO, Nick is the founding father of the Crooked Coaches Club....jus sayin
The entire SEC has gone full retard. Maybe they can also inscribe an inspirational speech from their badass QB on the stadium crowing about his 50+ yds passing. "To Tide Nation, I promise that you will never see another QB fight harder to get 75 yards passing. God Bless."
They need to erect a statue of Dareous...he won them the game with the Colt hit. Saban's O was crap the whole game except for a couple of good runs, and his D was crap for a lot of it; their D did cause (and recover) the fumble in the 4Q when it mattered.
My first thought is that this is something that should be done at the end of a coach's career, not now. But then, maybe the school is hoping this act will somehow endear themselves to Saban, above and beyond a monetary commitment. So, if this causes Saban to stay an extra year it's worth it - a retention package.
Wonder where they find room to put the statues of all 487 coaches who have won national championships there...
I never thought it possible that aggy could be... well, out aggy'd. The SEC has achieved a new, all-time high in team homerism. Crazy!
Does the fact that they're going to erect a statue mean that Nick's midsection will be erect as opposed to limp?
