Ok, I feel better... As I age I'm starting to feel like Bill Parcells when he said (and I paraphrase liberally): the wins are only a relief and the losses are devastating....
That's why he quit.... When Romo dropped that field goal try in Seattle it just killed Parcells. Obviously, that was a tough loss but he said he couldn't believe how all the hard work for so long could come down to one play like that. The older you get, it seems you lose patience with BS, wheras a young man fights through it with his energy and hope....
Having the unranked Aggies knock us out of the number one ranking in our own arena would have been far, far, far worse. The experience would have sucked and we would have handed A&M the National Championship as far as they are concerned. I don't think we were wearing the ranking very well, I'm not unhappy that somebody else will be number one for awhile.
Don't be too upset. Unlike the BS that is the BCS, in basketball the championship is actually played out on the court, and not just between the two current media favorites. We're fine.
Our basketball team won close games over A&M College Station and A&M Corpus, which suggests they were overrated. Better to lose to a good team on the road early in conference play----time to get the kinks out if there are some. And look at the bright side-----leading the whole game and then losing in overtime drove a number of Aggies that final few klicks to insanity.
While I certainly didn't want the Horns to lose last night, and hated hearing the "We Own Texas" chant, it was bound to happen sooner or later. On the "loss scale," maybe not such a bad deal losing on the road to a top 10 team. Perhaps this will be a well timed wake up call for our basketball team, which I don't think was/is overrated.
Au contraire! The Horns beat our hated rival aggy and the Saints won! Just maybe I'll be able to witness the Saints play in a Superbowl after watching them play all those years since their inception into the NFL.
