Applying pre-emergent weed killer (four times a year??) is the single most important thing you can do.

Plenty of schedules like this one on the internet (but don't worry about bugs or grub worms and DO NOT OVERSEED): The Link target="_blank" href="http://www.teasnursery.com/LawnCareSchedule.htm">Tea's Nursery Houston St. Augustine Care Schedule

    Good Luck!

WooHorn, thanks for that link... I would imagine the schedule would be similar for the Austin area, right?

building a house now in Houston. I'm a couple of months away from landscaping. I've seen a grass a grass in few yards that I think it supposed to require a lot less water and be fairly drought tolerant. building a modern looking house and I wanted something a little differnt anyway. any suggestions?
