one of you is bound to work there. pass this on.

i didn't come to work on a saturday and get some **** ready to ship by the 5 pm saturday pickup at the place near my office so that the guy could tell me at 4:50 that they had already picked up and it would go out monday.

if it says 5 pm and you're early, ******* wait.

    thank you.

yeah, traffic and delivery is an exact science. come on -- 10 minutes.

remember the concept of a "window of error" next time -- and caution on the conservative side. you won't have to blame others for incompetence then.

mad, you could have probably driven out to the airport and dropped it there. Unless you didn't want to deliver a dead body directly to them or something.

per their website, the last saturday dropoff at the airport is 5 pm as well.

what exactly is an acceptable window of error for this? it says 5 pm. if you're early, just wait a few minutes.

the first reply is great. somehow its my incompetance that led to the driver picking up at least 10 minutes early.

Fedex has lost (or their drivers have stolen) stuff that we have shipped several times.

We are UPS people now. No hassles, never lost/stolen a delivery, and prices and service are great.

I don't like Fedex, but my wife truly hates them (one example, she sent flowers to a friend for her birthday -- they never got there. Fedex didn't bother to say anything -- it wasn't until she talked to her friend and found out she never got any flowers that she followed up with Fedex and they admitted that the package was never delivered. What the f**k?)

I worked for the Byron Nelson and we shipped all of our ticket packages via FedEx. We would get tons of complaints about packages not being delivered and then would get the packages in question returned to us. From what we could figure out it looked as if the driver was too lazy to deliver and just kept putting delivery tries on the box.

I've never had any problems with Fedex, and have actually had more problems with UPS. I think we can all agree that DHL blows the most, though.

Our company has found our situation to be the complete opposite of brisk texan. We used UPS since their inception, and recently switched it all to FedEx. No one from UPS has even contacted us to see why. We're happier with FedEx so far.

I would have called Fed Ex right that moment from the dropoff site 1-800-gofedex

I bet they would have sent a message out to the manager of the branch to relay to the Carrier and you would have had a chance of the driver being required to come back and pickup the package.

UPS sucks ***! Those dipshits set up an account for weekly delivery 5 months after they were unable to get it set up initially, causing me to cancel service. They autodrafted my account for a couple months before I realized it and then never refunded the money for their f**k up. Ater 2-1/2 hours of my time I said f**k it.

You can't even pay your UPS bill online.... how damn backwards is that?

Fed Ex will give notices and try I belive two or three times before returning the package.

definitely ********. i would complain to corporate headquarters.

what if the driver decided to pickup at 4:15 instead of 4:50 because he wants to be sure to make happy hour? where does it stop? 5:00 is 5:00. people plan these things based on the time of 5:00.

Here's a FedEx story for y'all, and a possible explanation of where your packages go when they don't get delivered.

A couple of months ago Epson was shipping me a printer, via FedEx Ground Delivery. Their choice, NOT mine. So, the printer arrives, and of course I'm not available for delivery (I'm at work). Knowing that this is a Monday, and that they'll probably try to deliver it again on Tuesday and Wednesday (I'll STILL be at work), and then ship it back, I call and try to get it held at their warehouse so I can go pick up the thing myself. I'm told that it will take 48 hours to place a hold on it and get it pulled from the truck. WTF?!?! Just go out in the stupid warehouse and take it off the truck when I drive out there to get it! You've got to have people there 24/7, right???? So, okay. I ask if they are there on Saturdays, and I'm told they are until noon. Saturday comes, and I drive all the way across Bexar county (I live far northwest, and the warehouse is far southeast), arriving at 11:30. I go up to the door, and it's open (good, so far). But the place is deserted. The lights are on, but nobody is home. HELLOOOOOO!!!! Anybody home???? No answer. I look in all of the offices and nobody is to be seen. Computers. Big box on the wall with all of the keys to all of the trucks. You name it and it's there. Except employees. I look out the door into the warehouse. Trucks as far as I can see. FILLED with packages (think North Pole on Christmas Eve). HELLOOOOO!!!!! Still no answer, and no signs of life. So, I call the number on my door-tag and explain to the operator where I am, and that there is nobody there. She informs me that they aren't open for pickup on Saturdays. Excuse me? I was told they were. I then tell her that if that is the case, then they should have LOCKED THE DAMN DOORS before they left for the weekend, because I was standing in their warehouse and don't see anyone there. She says she's going to put me on hold and call them to find out where they are. The next thing I know, the phone on the desk next to me is ringing, so I answer it. "Hello". It's the same woman I was just speaking to, asking me "Is this the Federal Express warehouse?". Me, "Uh, yes it is. And, I TOLD YOU there isn't anyone HERE!". I then tell her that I'm going to go call the emergency numbers posted on the front glass. Before I can finish dialing, a guy in a uniform shows up and I tell him it's not a good idea to leave the place hanging open, with no one around, so people like me can just walk in off the street. He says there's a guy there, and will go get him. A few minutes later, some other guy comes out the back, and hand him my claim tag. Next thing I know they are handing me my printer, and I'm on my way. I think they just wanted to get me out of there and keep me happy so I wouldn't rat on them and their lack of security that day.

I work for one of the major shipping companies that isn't FedEx so I can't speak for how they run things but I assume things are similar. Drivers have one hour windows to pick up at locations, so as long as they come during that hour then they are in the right. Maybe your local "Mail Stop" or whatever shouldn't advertise that the pick up is at 5 when the driver could very well be there eariler. And also, drivers don't have time to just sit around waiting if they are within the window. I don't care if it's 15 mins or 5 mins. When a some one calls in for a pick up and it's not ready in the hour window that they asked for, then the driver isn't going to wait more than a couple mins and then he's out of there cause you are not the only customer they have to deal with that day.

the one hour window is a very understandable policy. i personally would rather see that window reflected on the box or at the mail stop instead of a single time, that way i know that i have a chance of missing the pick up. or have the window start at the posted time.

so if its a 5 pm pickup, would your window be 4:30 - 5:30, or 4-5, or 5-6?

That is horse ****. If it says 5:00 pick up, they had better not pick up until 5:00 on the dot or later.

The reason you use fed ex is to get stuff out that has to be delivered over night and rushed. People will also always rush and get things done last minute. Picking up ten minutes early defeats the purpose.
