It's interesting to see the prices for signatures:

    Colt $79 - 89
    Shipley $40
    Michael Oher $30
    Joe Montana $169 - 179
    Dan Reeves $39
    Don Perkins $25
    Chris Weinke $25
    Tony Dorsett $89
    Ty Detmer $29
    Elway $175 - 200
    Cushing $40
    Warren Moon $69 - 89

I'm not even sure Ty and Weinkes autograph was worth that much in their prime. What do I know, there might be a huge pool of FlaSt and BYU fans in Houston.

I wonder if the Old Timers like Elway, Moon and Montana do this sort of thing frequently, and tour around the country sign autographs for 60-200 dollars a pop. I don't really blame them, they probably look at all the numbnuts QB's out there getting paid 10X what they made in the 80's and 90's.

I have never understood why people pay for autographs? The prize is getting them for free. to me it's a sign of weekness to pay for them. That's something anyone can do.

Montana does it alot from what I remember. I don't get it either. I have a football helmet in my study and that is enough memorobilia for me.

My sis gave me an autogrpahed minihelmet and my parents gave me a pair of autographed Kevin Durant shoes. They are on a shelf in my closet.

agree. I don't get the point of autographs.

I'd love to have meet Colt, chat, and maybe get a photo taken with him.

Having someone sign a piece of paper? Silly.

autographs are way too easy to fake for them to be worth anything. and those companies that 'authenticate' them are BS.
I have plenty of framed pics and magazine covers in my home office of UT greats but not one autograph and dont care to have any.

Thank you! I'm so glad some others feel that way. Love Colt and Jordan, but they're just people, as is everyone else at this event. The money is one thing but I cannot even imagine spending hours of my life waiting in line for such things.

I think Weinke and Detmer can charge for collectors who want all the Heisman autos. Same for Baseball HOF seekers, certain record holders, etc.

As for Montana, I think he needs the money. Isn't that why he wouldn't show up for the Super Bowl a few years back, because they wouldn't pay him enough?

I guess i'm in the minority here. I'm generally not a fan of paying for autos, but I make some exceptions. I enjoy watching my collection grow of my UT signatures. I got VY,Ced, DJ, Mack, Selvin, Studdard , Jamaal,Okam and Nobis for free. I have since got Earl, Colt, Shipley and DKR for a fee in person.

I wouldn't pay for any either .... but I certainly would give a plug nickel to Warren Moon... and I was a BIG Oilers fan.
