    missing Leinart from the list.

? why do they say Vince was the first to do 3000/1000 when to my knowledge he is the only/probably will be the only. Viince did it in 13 games, of which he actually played about 10 full games. I'm estimating he took off 11 4th quarters, that's almost 3 games.

I think the longer the season, it actually hurts a future prospects chances to do both, because coaches arent' going to want to expose a dual threat QB to injury for 14 or 15 games.

Not only was he the first and only to achieve 3000/1000, but nobody had even achieved 2500/1000.

This was an achievement that is truly great no matter how you spin it. By contrast, Tebow's record of being the first player to score 20 TDs running and throwing each is subject to criticism. Namely, he got a lot of those TD runs from very short yardage:

    1, 3, 16, 7, 5, 9, 6, 2, 9, 2, 2, 3, 1, 1, 5, 1, 3, 2, 5, 2, 23, 5, 1

Well over half of the runs were from 3 yards or less. Only 6 were beyond the 5. Only 2 were beyond the 10.

For comparison, VY's TDs from one game, the '05 Rose Bowl:

    20, 60, 10, 23

So VY scored 4 TDs in 1 game totaling 113 yards. Tebow in his record-breaking season scored 23 TDs totalling 114 yards.

The thing about VY is he tended to spread the ball out more whereas Tebow always was the offense. Only when they were in a jam, like the two Rose Bowls, would Vince start to take over in a way that no player before or since ever has. The point is VY could have also achieved the 20/20 mark if he gave himself more carries, particularly when he had a chance for an easy score from inside the 5 yard line. Tebow, by contrast, with all those opportunities still never came close to achieving VY's 3000/1000 record.

And yet, this is a perfect example where the media uses stats to exercise their bias by hyping Tebow's record as unprecedented and superhuman whereas largely ignoring VY's more impressive feat.

I think the passage of time, the backlash to the TT hype, and their NFL careers will set the record straight.

I thought the kid from CMI duplicated Vince's feat - although I'm not sure if that was 2500/1000 or 3000/1000.

Dan LeFevour accomplished 3,000 passing and 1,000 rushing in 2007.

That list seems pretty right to me, i dont know about Mcfadden being that high up

Also note that in 2005, when Vince rushed for 12 touchdowns, Texas had four other players besides Vince with 8+ rushing TDs.

In 2007 when Tebow had his 20/20 year, only 4 other guys had rushing TDs at all, and nobody had more than 6. In 2008 Tebow had 12 TDs and only 1 other Gator had 8 or more. In 2009 Tebow had 14 TDs, and again nobody else had 8+.

Vince clearly could have rushed for more TDs but we had a more diverse goal-line offense. That's not a knock on Tebow, either, it's just a difference in offensive styles and the types of things that their different surrounding talents were good at.
