They rake in less TV and bowl money than just about anyone. Suppose they might be able to recruit a few more hawaiians and samoans.
Their granola, pot-smoking culture is much more suited toward the liberal left coast than the conservative mid-west...
Why wouldn't they? I don't think the geography is that much worse, and the schools are in general better in many ways, and the size of the market is bigger for TV contract purposes. The better question is would this kill the Big XII?
CU students identify more with California, that's why. Plus their academics are pretty good which is right up the Pac's alley.
CU is a sleeping giant. They've had success before and they can have it again if they get the right people in place.
considering that most of the PAC 10 schools have more competitive sports teams than most of us knew existed (see Stanford and UCLA) and Colorado sucks at everything but football (an football ain't that great) I don't think the PAC 10 will want CU.
They could adjust this a little. MNF does well starting at 6:00. If they just had a 6:00PM limit for football games involving Texas--that could really improve things. (say 6:30 for BB).
