Recently saw a mention that there was tension between Rick and the Baylor coach. Is there something to this?? If so, does anyone have details. Thanks in advance.
There is tension between Scott Drew and a lot of the other Big XII coaches. Has to do with recruiting tactics.
I'm not aware of the precise details. I have heard the generalities from people I trust, so that's all I can say.
As unethical as hiring AAU coaches of a recruit is, I think there must be more to it. After all, A&M, Kansas, and KState buy recruits in this manner as well, and Barnes' relationship with those coaches does not seem particularly strained.
Drew is a very negative recruiter and has done very questionable recruiting. He has outright lied about several schools.
He has outright lied about several schools. And your source on this is? Is this something you have heard from recruits? Or is it just sour grapes. I bleed orange as much as the next guy but you have to give him credit for what he has done with that program. It's not like he has kids beating his door down to come to BU. It's more of a struggle and harder work then say recruiting at UT or KU. But on the other hand if he is not playing by the rules then i lose respect for him. And he deserves the criticsim.

^^That seems like it would cause rick barnes to respect him more than it would cause tension. It has to be alot more than that or Rick would HATE Bill Self.
The issues were public before Drew ever beat Barnes so it doesn't have anything to do with Baylor's recent good fortune.
