Beebe is hard to listen to. He's a dork, an apologist for the bowl system, and a weak personality to be leading our league.
Well said Horn 89. Beebe is a functionary, an apparatchik. The idea that we can get a substantial TV deal by just asking really nicely is absurd. The Big 12 doesn't have any televisions (Texas provides half of them) and 2/3 of the league is small time in mindset, culture, and resources. We're slumming.
While it may be true that the Big 12 is mired in an outdated contract, is there any reason to think that Beebe can improve our position significantly?
47 million televisions divided by 12 when one school provides around 40% of them including most of the passive national interest isn't a good deal. Monkeying with the current contract is marginally useful. You're welcome to shuffle deck chairs with Beebe, however.
Better yet, we could ignore the signs that point to the distinct possibility of Texas moving to the Big 10 or Pac 10 and try to quash any discussion by accusing the discussion participants of being stupid.
I have made comments on the subject of moving to the Big televen, and many others. On those, and any others it makes not one bit of difference what anyone says. What happens will happen and none of what we say will make one iota of difference, but it gives those of us with nothing better to do an opportunity to bs.
to my knowlege, nobody has reported seeing beebe, baghdad bob, and bullmarket in the same room. think it's a coincidence that all three start with the letter 'b'?
