what the league should do when its current TV deal expires in five years. _________________________________________________ we cant do anyhting about a network for 5 years? so basically, the school athletic department will be out about 60 million from what it could make from being in a big 10 type deal.
60M subscribers and $112M in revenue leaves the per subcriber rate well short of our previous thoughts. (assuming these numbers are right). If ND or Texas is added, how much incremental revenue is there from the BTN?
The Big XII has two deals, one for the game of the week with ABC and one for everything else with FSN. The FSN deal expires soon. If the ABC deal provides enough money, there is a pretty clear upgrade path to a Big XII network.
Correct, just because they're not scheduled to renegotiate contracts for another X number of years, doesn't mean they won't. They do it all the time in the entertainment business.
Is the Big 10 Network the only deal the Big 10 has? If so should we not take their 112 Million annual revenue figure and subtract out whatever the Big 12 is making in its TV deal in order to find out exactly how much more the Big 10 is making each year in revenue due to its deal? One thing Texas doesn't need to worry about is revenue though. Texas is #1 in revenue year just about each year. Sure we could make more with a new deal, but it is not a crisis for Texas right now. A new deal will happen in a few years.
FSN is the network that gave us "Henry Shelton," among several other gems. For whatever that's worth.
