Sorry I don't know who "Yates" is, I'm guessing the mens Houston Yates bball team, and if that's the case, Yates wins huge. If it's not that Yates, than I don't know.
^^^ Then yates wins huge. True story, back in '93 I visit a friend in Lubbock and we ended up in a pick up game with the NC Texas Tech Lady Raiders, complete with Sheryl Swoopes at the rec center on campus. Me and a few freshman dorm rats ran them off the court despite their repeated efforts (3 full court games). It's just a simple case of the boys being bigger, faster and stronger than the ladies. Of course I'm guessing this Yates team is the allsome, and if they are, I'm guessing they have at least 2 guys that are D1 ready. Even being in HS, they're going to have more than even the Lady Huskies could handle. This of course is with all due respect to women's bball and the amazing run the UCONN ladies are on.
Huskies would struggle to stay within 40. Yates vs an all star wnba team might be a better question. WNBA would still struggle to stay in the game.
Despite the UConn girls advantage in fundamentals, Yates would have far to much speed, strength, size, hand quickness, and vertical game for the huskies to keep it close for long.
I thought you meant the Uconn men. Please be clearer. Uconn men would kill Yates, Yates, like a lot of high school men's teams would kill the women.
Let's put it like this. Most of those Yates players are going to play some college basketball somewhere, so essentially they are not much different from a college men's team that is playing a bunch of freshmen. They just so happen to be one year younger, but they are still very good and very athletic. I would pay to see Yates vs a WNBA all star team, but I still don't think it would even be that close at the end of the game. The women's teams would have trouble even getting the ball past half court.
Yates by 40+ and 25+ v. WNBA all-stars. Are you freakin kidding me to ask the question. I still believe myself and 6 or 7 in-shape 35 year old guys who played some college ball would hammer the UConn women. I am 43, 6'5" 225 and can still dunk. Who is going to guard me, much less 18 year old, very athletic and in shape ballers? Seriously?
Is this thread supposed to be serious? Are you seriously asking if one of the most dominate state champions in high school history could beat a womens basketball team? Do you think the UCONN women could beat TJ Ford and Sugarland Willowridge? Do you think UCONN women could beat 6'11 Chris Bosh and his Lincoln Tiger team? gimme a break. A better question is if the UCONN women teams could beat an average high school boys team. I for one think the women could do it. But asking if they can beat a state champion boys team is asinine. I know nothing about Houston Yates, but you gotta think that at least a few of those guys are good enough to play college ball.
UCONN Lineup Heather Buck 6-3 Tina Charles 6-4 Lorin Dixon 5-4 Caroline Doty 5-10 Kelly Faris 5-11 Jacque Fernandes 5-9 Meghan Gardler 6-0 Kalana Greene 5-10 Tiffany Hayes 5-10 Kaili McLaren 6-2 Maya Moore 6-0 Yates Lineup Alex Davis 6'9 - 185 (bean pole) Trey Dickerson 6-0 Darius Gardner 5-10 Chris Hill 6-5 - 280 (stout) Gary Jackson 5-10 Marshall Lang 6-0 Charles Lewis 6-6 Ronnie Lewis 5-9 Shuneric Martin 6-4 Brandon Peters 6-2 Elton Roy 6-2 Clyde Santee 6-6 Darveon Trahan 6-3 Gregory Watts 5-11 Joseph Young 6-2 So UConn has 11 players and Yates 15, but the size advantage overall goes to Yates, who has 11 seniors. UConn is a very very good team, but I would go with Yates based on athletic ability and size. Im not sure it would be a blowout because those girls are tough cookies and are seasoned vets.
