I left off a couple of things:
    Top 5 Finishes:
    MB: 3; Aggy: 2 (1939 & 1956)

    Top 10 Finishes:
    MB: 4; Aggy: 10

And there is one error (that I know of and probably more) -- I counted Ricky's 1997 Doak Walker award which occurred under Mackovic. So Mack only has 2 Doak Walker awards. I'm going back and editing the original post.

Notre Dame didn't play bowl games for a long time. We brought them out of hibernation in 1969 (actually, it would have been January 1, 1970) for the Cotton Bowl. Before that, I don't think they had played in a bowl in like 30 or 40 years. They were above bowl games.

There should be more posts like this. No biased arguments, just numbers.

I've always felt (especially before the NC) Mack Brown didn't get enough credit for the results he was producing and A&m always gave themselves way too much credit for never really accomplishing anything.

Notre Dame did not compete in bowl games between 1925 to 1970 - 45 years! [IMG] Notre Dame and the Four Horsemen defeated Standford in the 1925 Rose Bowl 24 to 10. In 1925 the fall semester lasted in January. Colleges would get back right after the Christmas-New Years' holidays and have about a week of classes then finals. It seems that due to train delays that the team got back to campus late and since acedemics were the main thing ND decided no more bowl games at all. All this because of an unfortunate train experience. Of course teams soon started traveling by airplane but ND still didnt' play bowl games and when they finally decided to play in the 1970 Cotton Bowl many people joked that it took ND 45 years to discover the airplane. [IMG]
Of course also I think ND caught on that the polls were going to start considering bowl games in their NC choices so that probably got them to start playing bowl games plus other reason$.
