The game Friday vs KU is huge. A win there and the team keeps the momentum going in conference play. Let's hope the Disch is rocking all weekend as it should be following the rout of the land thieves.
Considering that UT is only 1/3 of the way through the conference schedule (and 4 teams have only played 2 series), it's a little too early to be laying claim.
It is too early but overall the Big 12 is down this year in baseball, Texas should win it by 2 or 3 games.
Wishbone....I think we got a tie in one of the series´ IT IS OURS AND WE WILL TAKE IT! It's early, but it's ours, mark it down.
We still have to reach the point in the season where the collective geniuses here on hornfans think we are not very good and wont win anything... A whine or five about bunting too...
First place sure as hell should be ours as we clearly have a gigantic talent advantage over every team in the mediocre Big XII. OU and A&M are pretty good, but nowhere near our level. KU and KSU are above average teams. The rest is awful. It's a fight for 2nd place. Up until last weekend, I was frustrated with our team for not playing with a killer mentality as evidenced by losing 7 games. However, I like the way our young guys like Walsh, Walla, and Montalbano are playing. Etier has also surprised me with his bat. We need Keyes to continue playing well as we seem to struggle offensively when he struggles at the plate.
We're 4 ahead of K. St. but they have 3 in hand. We're 4 ahead of a&m and Tech 5 ahead of Baylor 6 over ou because of weep The fat lady is warming up
Good grief, put an end to the premature celebration. A couple of key injuries, hitting slumps, pitchers not on their game-all these things happen in baseball. We have a long way to go. I'm enrolling you all in Bill in Sinton's Focusness 101 Boot Camp. You can post again after passing the course.
I make no predictions, but I like our chances. I'd just like to see a little more offense in Games 1 and 2 of each series. Fortunately, to this point, most of our poor offensive showings have coincided with outstanding efforts on the mound and from the defense. I'd like to see the Horns put it all together for the remainder of the season -- and that means into the playoffs!
I agree with Texanne, we need to pick it up on offense on Friday/Saturday. Lets not kid ourselves, KU isn't known for their pitching. Both the Friday and Saturday starters had 5+ ERAs and we struggled at the plate. But, as Augie pointed out, that means we are still capable of playing much better. And that is just awesome considering the nice position we find ourselves in.
I'm thinking our offensive slumps are just the opposing teams putting everything they can into that first game because they know they aren't deep enough to hang in a three game set, hence the very tight games on Friday and the blow outs on Sunday. Just my two cents, if I were the opposing team that's what I think I would have to do.
I like our chances too, but if any sport lacks consistency, it is baseball, and in college baseball, the key is peaking towards the very end of the season. If we do that, this team will go very far.
We're pretty safe for ending up being the Big XII regular season champ but my calculations indicate we're the #1 National Seed at this point, and that's worth as much, or more, I think.
