    Lost among the great pitching performances from the starters and all the long ball was some great defense, especially from the shortstop position.
    For years, UT fans sat in the stands saying "Spike would'a had it," when a ball went just past an infielder's glove. Well, I saw a tremendous amount of ground covered by Brandon Loy this weekend, and a very strong arm from deep in the hole. I hesitate to say it, but it was a Spikesque performance, the ultimate compliment. [​IMG]

    This good post made me go back and compare shortstops over the last 10-20 years and my favoraite has to be Seth Johnson. He had size, range, good arm, and man could he hit. If my memory is correct I think he hit in the .370' his final year. But, I do love Loy.

    If you've got Darren Loy on the brain, you're stranded in the 80s. But your brain may be suffering even more arrested development ...

    FYI, Loy leads the nation in sac bunts with 14 ....
