With the money that TEXAS is making from this deal, they should take the entire band to the NEBRASKA game. They should do everything from shot gun TEXAS to wall to wall to ending the performance with the giant state of TEXAS and "WE'RE TEXAS!!!!!! I would love to see that! If they don't have enough seats for the band...no problem....wait outside until they can perform halftime and then go!!!!
If money's a problem, the band can leave early and take a bus. Maybe stop off in Cawker City Kansas and see The World's biggest Ball of Twine. Now, some will argue that the biggest ball of twine is in Darwin Minnesota - which we probably could have stopped to see if we had joined the Big 10, but that's neither here nor there. The ball in Minnesota is the biggest rolled by one person and ironically is probably what killed the guy.
All I can think of is the Darth Vader theme song from Star Wars.. I would pay money to have that played full tilt.
MOB shows are the result of letting the band write its own shows. Some of the members have been in it since the 70s. At Rice, the band members are generally of above-average intelligence, below average couth, and are welcome to stay after graduation.
The MOB sux. Their brass is weak, their percussion is dorky, and their ideas lame (except when they trash aggy of course).
As an exLHB member, I would be thrilled for the current group to get to go to Lincoln and blow the doors off the place. However, every seat given to them is one less ticket that Belmont can sell to a foundation member. Therefore, it's highly likely they'll only get a 50-piece band to go.
LHB announcer, as band forms huge donkey on field, while other members form a moving rectangle approaching the donkey: "Hey Huskers, don't let the door hit your *** on the way out."
I would like to see the full LHB in Lincoln this October, but I would really like to the see the full LHB at the UCLA game in Pasadena in 2011.
The last year of the SWC Baylor came to Austin. The two bands performed together at halftime and played a portion of each conference member's fight song. When they got to a&m at the end they played the original Mickey Mouse Club song. The Link
As the father of two current LHB members I can tell you without a doubt that they would much rather go to So Cal than Lincoln. Especially since UCLA plays in the Rose Bowl and both of them only have bad memories of that place (the '10 game). It will never happen though since it costs a fortune to send the whole band on a trip that requires multiple planes and multiple hotel nights.
Wow ! That was brutal (although funny !) I'm a Husker fan. Despite all the emotion that will no doubt swirl around this year's Texas@ Nebraska game, you would NEVER see that kind of thing at NU's Memorial Stadium ! Absolutely never ! I plan to be at that game, and although it will be a high-energy, I might even say "electrically charged" atmosphere, I would predict that NU fans, as always, will treat UT and its fans with respect.
North Cove: Attending games in Lincoln we've been cursed, boo'd, had personal property stolen, friends had trash thrown at them, a 50+ year old tried to start a fight w Mrs NebLHAB because we sang our alma mater with our team after a LOSS and last Saturday 3 locals tried to steal our Texas flag. Borrow and wear Texas Orange to one of our remaining games in Lincoln and find out what it's like. Then get back with us. m/
