under mack, the team has a history of doing well after a loss. but this year feels a little different. i feel more optimistic than not that the team will bounce back and get the W this weekend... but i have to admit i have more concern than i usually do. my gut feeling is our guys get the win in a close, low scoring game. but ...at the same time, i wouldn't be real surprised if we lose by 2 or 3 TD's.
17-14 Horns. I love Muschamp and I think he's one of the best DC's out there, but his defenses have laid an egg in at least one game the past two seasons -- last year at aggy and this year against UCLA. No way Mushcamp's D plays poorly twice in a row. I think he and his players bring it. I don't predict our offense will have some magical turnaround, but we score enough points to get the win.
If we have no turnovers and our defense plays outstanding, we can win, but we have to keep OU's score low. I just don't think we can score more than 17-20 points in this game. I'm very worried about our inability to convert turnovers into touchdowns and score inside the red zone. We certainly can't afford to miss field goals.
If I wasn't a horns fan I wouldn't be very interested in this game. Two above average teams with no real stars and probably not much fireworks. Turnovers will tell the game. Toss up.
The UCLA hangover will carry over into Saturday. That's what happens when you have very little leadership on a team.
If we decide to turn it over 5 (7 with the 4th down tries) times then there's no way we walk out of Dallas with a W.
If Utah State, Air Force, and Cincinnati can all score 24-29, then we have some hope to get into the 20s too. Gut feeling is we win this one and then lose to Nebraska....
I just don't have a good feeling about the game. I'm thinking that Saturday might be a good day to clean out the garage.
17 ou 21 we have 50 rushing yards and 35 are on one breakaway TD by Foz.. we also look to exploit them with our horizontal passing game that they used to obliterate behind the LOS every time we tried it from 2000 to 2004. we have comparable defenses, and to some degree comparable passing attacks (more or less the fact that there is talent at the qb and wr positions on both squads) so this one comes down to the running game. they have one, we don't.
Gut feeling is we lose by two scores. I think our defense will keep it close for the first half. But offensive futility will give ou field position, an easy score or two and eventually they pull away in the fourth quarter. Sort of like ucla last week. ou wins 24-13
I honestly don't know. I usually have a gut feeling about big games...and it's usually right. I'm going back and forth on this one. I just can't figure out what kind of team Texas is going to decide to show up with on Saturday. If they decide to show up with one that gives a crap and shows even an ounce of fight, then we win...24-20. If not, then...
I'm feeling like we're going to beat them. Two reasons: I believe the sorry loss to UCLA will cause the team to pull together and deliver their best performance of the season; I think this is a classic trap game/upset scenario. So, the BoomTime Cometh! (Watch for at least one, maybe two, Stoops visor-to-turf tosses.) - Enjoy the game all of you.
I think the score will be something like 17-14 flip a coin. i don't think either of these teams are going anywhere fast.
when i look at this objectively (as objectively as i can be), i see the bad guys winning. you have to score more than the other team in order to win a football game. that's a problem for us. i think the defense will be solid. unless ou turns the ball over a bunch, i just don't see us getting it done. sure hope i'm wrong.
Gone back and forth on this game all week. Leaning towards OU right now but that could certainly change before kickoff. I can make one certain prediction, however: This game will not be aesthetic for offensive football fans. This one's going to be a good old fashioned defensive Dallas street fight.
OU is undefeated but knows they are weak. No coming in over-confident this time. UT is coming off of a shocking loss but still have a lot to play for. Normally, I'd say this gives UT the edge, with the way Mack's teams have bounced back from losses before. But I have seen this team, and I don't know if they have the guts or the pride.
